Our weather is changing, be prepared in case a windstorm passes through and takes out the power in your home.
⚡What Should You Do If the Power Goes Out in Your Garage? ⚡
🏠 If you’re inside the garage: Most automatic garage doors have an emergency release cord. Pulling it disconnects the door from the opener so you can manually lift the door.
🚗 If you’re outside: If your garage door is your only entry into the garage, you may need an emergency release kit that allows you to disconnect the opener from outside.
🔋 Have battery backup? Some garage door openers have a battery backup, allowing you to open and close the door even when the power is out.
⚠️ A few important reminders:
• Make sure the door is fully closed before pulling the emergency release from inside.
• Garage doors can be heavy—if the door is difficult to lift, don't force it.
·When the power comes back on make sure to check all outlets for a GFCI switch that might be connected to your opener
• Never attempt to repair broken springs or cables yourself.
