Not every dream home sits on flat ground. 🏔️

This geodesic dome home sits on a steep, rocky mountain lot, and we built the outdoor spaces to match. A curved block retaining wall follows the slope and holds the hillside back, with a black metal railing on top. A composite deck wraps around the dome with room for lounging and dining, and a black louvered shade structure covers the main seating area. The cover keeps the deck usable on sunny afternoons, while the dark finish picks up the home's trim and railings.

Mountain sites take careful engineering and a team that's done it before. Our in-house crew handled the wall, deck, and shade structure as one coordinated build.

From above, this paver walkway steps and shifts along the side of the home in a pattern of light and dark blocks, each panel framed by a charcoal border. Path lights are placed along the edge, so the route glows after dark and the stone stays in focus. Around it, a river rock bed with low-water shrubs keeps upkeep simple, and a flagstone-stepped dry creek bed at the far end adds a natural touch.

This path light sits low in a bed of blooming perennials, with purple and blue flowers, natural boulders, and fresh mulch around it. Water spills over the face of a natural stone and glows gold under a low-voltage light set into the river rock. This bubbling boulder fountain sits inside a raised block planter right at the top of the patio steps. Water spills over three natural boulders and drains into a bed of river rock, so it's ready to enjoy without a pond to maintain. This custom gas fire pit was built to handle Colorado evenings. A curved steel windbreak keeps the flames steady when the breeze picks up and frames the fire against the open hillside beyond the fence. Inside, a decorative log set with birch logs and pinecones gives it a real campfire look with none of the smoke or cleanup. The block base and wide capstones double as a ledge to set a drink on, and the paver patio around it leaves plenty of room to pull up a chair.
