Before anything gets built, the ground has to be right.

This week our crew has been setting foam and backfilling around new pads, then grading so the surface is ready for what comes next. It's the least glamorous part of a project and the one everything else depends on.

Fabric laid flat. Stone set along a clean, curved line. Fresh soil brought up to meet it. Each layer is placed so the finished bed holds its shape through Fox Valley freeze and thaw, long after the job is done.

This week our crew was running underground lines: fittings set, lines laid, clean stone around them so the ground stays solid and the system lasts. It isn't the glamorous part of a project. It's the part that decides how the finished project holds up years from now.

Every build starts on prepared ground.

Before a slab is poured or a building goes up, the ground has to be right. That means the pad cut to grade, the base compacted, and water directed away. Get it wrong and every trade after you pays for it.

Our crew does that work: building pads, grading, drainage and site prep for garages, pole buildings, outbuildings and patios.
