We unfortunately won’t be opening up to do Halloween activities and candy today as originally planned. Life decided to be a party pooper and I won’t be able to. Happy Halloween!

I’ve decided the dried flowers from the white pumpkin arrangement would look cool mounted vertically sticking out from the wall. There will be some new dried flowers added to fill in gaps where the flower foam is visible.

The piece of wood was a free serving tray from a shut down garage sale.

In my weird love of bones I thought it looked cool with one of my old Doe skulls I crystallized.

The last piece is a giant dried lichen I’ve had forever. It’s thick and solid. It will be mounted upside down at the bottom to make a little shelf. What will go on the shelf? No idea! Candle, little plant, more bones, cool rocks… whatever seems fun.

No I am not a witch or that vibe. Respect to all my witchy friends out there! It’s a frequent question. I just love nature in every possible way. There is beauty in all parts of the circle of life.

Viceroy butterfly hanging in the garden. These little mullerian mimics don’t migrate like their similar looking Monarch counterparts. They overwinter as immature caterpillars in a shelter made from a rolled leaf (hibernaculum) and enter a state of dormancy freezing their metabolism. The Viceroy feeds on willow, poplar, and cottonwood which allows them to store salicylic acid in their bodies, making them very bitter tasting for birds and causing some upset tummies.

Monarchs-which this guy is not, take a massive migration journey to Mexico every winter where they stay for 4-5 months before returning. How? In late summer every year a generation of monarchs emerge in a state called reproductive Diapause. Instead of mating, they just become ravenously hungry and eat as much nectar as they can. These sugars are converted into fat reserves stored in their abdomen that give them energy for migration and no eating for up to 5 months. Monarchs feed exclusively on Milkweed which makes it such an important plant to have in your gardens. Monarchs actually store cardiac glycosides from eating toxic milkweed that makes them highly poisonous causing birds and other predators digestive issues.

2 very different butterflies who look almost the same!

Lesson of the day: don’t eat butterflies

Remember the pumpkin I made for myself with extra flowers from lathrop homecoming? (Totally selfish 🤣) I let them naturally dry out with the flower foam and this is what they look like now! It’s too cool so I will remove the top when the pumpkin goes bad and mount it to a fake pumpkin or something cool. These can last for years dried. Next year if time allows I want to dry a bunch of flowers to do arrangements and classes.

Hello Lovely People! It’s our LAST DAY of the season and we will be closing up the stand. We will hand out Candy for Halloween.

We can take flower special orders and will occasionally have arrangements available grab and go for special holidays. Centerpieces for Thanksgiving, handmade wreaths for Christmas ect… message me and if I’m available I’m happy to help out! The Build Your Own Bouquet bar is also available for booking special events.

There are 3 arrangements in the Cooler today made from flowers left over on a special order. 2 little pumpkins and 1 moss purse arrangement. If you need a last minute gift for the weekend these are cute little ways to make someone smile!

Available today-
Zuchinni
Koginut squash
Red onions
Some planters/random plants
That’s pretty much it left out there!

Thank you so much for such a wonderful season. We have had visitors from other cities, states, and even out of the country. 3 languages! I’ve been able to see former teachers, friends from 20 or more years ago, friends I see everyday, strangers sharing stories with each other, the regular shoppers every week, all of these people coming together in one little spot sharing their worlds with me.
You’ve donated items to help each other, shared plants, shared gifts, shared your art and love of flowers, shared your joy, and I cannot thank you enough. We hope we brought a little extra color and yumminess to your worlds this year. Can’t wait to see you all again in the Spring! Happy Growing!

10/16- Extra flower time! If you need a gift for the weekend I made a mini version of the birthday purse in all purples! It will be in the flower cooler! When someone makes a special order that’s smaller I will always have extra flowers because they come in bunches. These colors were a request so I work with what I’ve got. Sometimes I get to enjoy them in my house but I would rather you get to make someone smile!

There may be a couple other smaller pieces later in the day with the last bit of flowers.

Order for a birthday girl! Had some fun for a friend.
