Join us in our journey Owner / operator Ed Blondin is a Master Gardener with horticultural training from Michigan State University. He has worked with homeowners and corporate clients in southeast Michigan for more than 30 years. Ed's goal is to introduce you to an elegant, comfortable, engaging outdoor lifestyle. "Every person should dedicate a corner of his or her garden as a personal sanctuary," Ed says. "We can explore whether that corner is for entertaining or meditation...or self indulgence. Once we have created your plan, the Hortulus Gardens team will see that it's installed and maintained. Your garden should be your 'Ahhh haa' backdrop for entertaining or just slipping away. It does NOT need to be expensive. It just needs to be yours." Call Hortulus Gardens today for a free consultation: 248-798-4081

So I’ve been meaning to share this Season 4 privacy hedge for quite a while now.

We started out with a messy, less than appealing buckthorn hedge. The only thing going for it was the privacy it provided. The first year was a very horrible removal project.

Only then could we begin planting . We decided on a variety of evergreen and deciduous shrubs/ trees. We wanted it to look more 'natural' than landscaped. The video was after a year or so of no weeding. The still is when the daisies were in full bloom.

One more year and it should finally fill out into exactly what we set out to replace!

Come and Join us at Baldwin Library in Birmingham Tuesday 7.00pm!

'Join Ed Blondin as he takes us on an exploration of the Western world's original herbal healers. Starting 6000 years ago in ancient Sumeria, these healers took on the many roles that lay the foundation of modern medicine. He will explore the stereotypes of the Witch/Healer and how these figures drove the economics, religion, health care, and American Pop Culture into the 21st century.'

For generations, people have looked at the stripes of the woolly worm and tried to read the winter ahead.

The old folklore says that more orange means a milder winter, while more black is supposed to signal a harsher one.

It’s a fun autumn tradition, but there’s no reliable scientific evidence that a woolly worm can actually forecast the weather months in advance. Its coloring is influenced by factors such as age, development, and environmental conditions rather than a secret ability to predict winter.

Still, that hasn’t stopped people from checking these little caterpillars every fall.

So if you spot a woolly worm this season, take a look at its stripes and make your prediction.
