The last two weeks have been a fast-paced push to get a light commercial job completed in Lewes. This project required two businesses to temporarily close, to remove mechanical equipment for those businesses and five residential tenants, remove and replace the roofing, and get the equipment back on in a timely manner.
The restaurant, Lewes Oyster House, expected to be closed for three weeks.
We completed the critical path portion of the project in 13 days. They were open for business this past Saturday.
This required the close coordination with several different contractors in order of starting sequence:
- Our rock star HVAC contractor Alltemp Air
- Our electrician who’s same day service prepped our roof’s electrical needs
- Our roofing contractor who made the schedule happen, Grand Exteriors LLC
- Our building’s electrician, Stillwater Electric who ran primaries for the new HVAC equipment.
A special shoutout to All Temp Heating and Air who was the last piece in the puzzle to open Saturday, and directed a lot of manpower to get us back online by Friday afternoon.
This was an all hands, team effort, even including LOH staff pitching in when extra hands were needed (Thanks Ethan, Brandon, and Tim)!
I also must express my gratitude to the The City of Lewes for being a team player in permitting and inspection scheduling. Also, to Lewes BPW for providing protection on nearby utility wires so our crews could work safely around secondary services.
Other support services include disposal by Breeding Roll Off Service, Storage by American Portable Mini Storage, and rentals by Sunbelt Rentals.
A special shoutout to Gaia Coffee Co. who was our other affected commercial tenant and their staff worked through a few warm days waiting for the air conditioning to be re-installed. Thanks for all the excellent coffee and Brûlé Bakery sweets. It made the early mornings and late nights more palatable.
There is still some work to be done before the project is finished, but Saturday was a major milestone and I’m incredibly proud of all of our parters.
I’ll share pictures when Grand Exteriors LLC get’s their final drone shot! All my current photos are of boring details haha.
