Eric Swalwell calls for an independent presidential cr*mes commission to investigate alleged misconduct involving Donald Trump and his supporters. ⚖️🇺🇸

Swalwell has advocated establishing a commission with independent pros*cutors to examine potential constitutional violations and executive misconduct. Supporters argue such investigations could strengthen accountability and the rule of law. Critics warn that politically focused investigations could encourage selective pros*cution. Any allegations would require credible evidence, independent examination, and appropriate legal procedures before determining responsibility.

What if one of the fastest growing plants on Earth could power your car? 🎋 Researchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute say bamboo can be turned into fuel for as little as 2.75 dollars per gasoline gallon equivalent. That figure comes from economic modeling of a mature commercial plant, so it is a projection and not a pump price today. The team also found its life cycle emissions are 26 times lower than petroleum diesel.

Bamboo grows fast, needs little land, and does not compete with food crops. It also stores carbon in its roots. 🌍 For families facing high fuel bills, cleaner travel could one day cost less. 🚗 The future of fuel may already be growing around us.

Astronomers have detected an extraordinarily powerful natural laser signal from a galaxy billions of light-years away, revealing one of the universe’s most fascinating phenomena.

But this isn’t a laser built by aliens. It’s a naturally occurring cosmic phenomenon called a megamaser.

Unlike ordinary lasers, which produce visible light, masers amplify microwave or radio waves.

These powerful signals can originate in distant galaxies where enormous clouds of gas interact under extreme conditions.

One particularly interesting type is the hydroxyl megamaser, which produces intense radio emissions from molecules containing oxygen and hydrogen.

When galaxies collide, their gas clouds become compressed, creating environments where these molecules can amplify radio waves.

Under the right conditions, the emission becomes so powerful that radio telescopes on Earth can detect it across billions of light-years.

In 2022, astronomers using South Africa’s MeerKAT radio telescope discovered a record-breaking hydroxyl megamaser nicknamed Nkalakatha.

Its signal came from a galaxy whose light had traveled approximately 5 billion years to reach Earth.

More distant megamaser detections have since pushed the boundaries of these observations.

Despite the enormous distances involved, these signals can remain detectable because vast numbers of molecules contribute to the amplified emission.

However, describing the phenomenon as a giant laser beam aimed at Earth is misleading.

The radiation is naturally generated and does not represent a dangerous beam traveling toward our planet.

Scientists study megamasers because they reveal how galaxies collide, how gas behaves during these encounters, and how stars form in extreme environments.

The specific claim of an 8-billion-light-year detection requires confirmation from the original research.

In 1894, two extraordinary minds met in a New York laboratory: inventor Nikola Tesla and celebrated author Mark Twain.

Tesla was experimenting with high-frequency electricity, exploring ways to produce light without connecting a lamp to a conventional electrical wire. His demonstrations seemed almost magical to observers who were witnessing the possibilities of a new electrical age.

One famous photograph captures Mark Twain holding an experimental lamp in Tesla's laboratory, with Tesla visible in the background. The image was published in an 1895 article about Tesla's inventions and is a remarkable record of their encounter.

Twain, whose real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens, was fascinated by technology and maintained a friendship with Tesla. He had an interest in inventions himself, although some of his own investments in new technology proved unsuccessful.

Tesla's experiments used high-frequency, high-voltage electrical currents to excite gas-filled or specially designed lamps without a direct wired connection. The demonstrations helped advance understanding of high-frequency electricity and wireless illumination.

But there was an important distinction: lighting a lamp wirelessly over a short distance was not the same as delivering unlimited electrical power across continents. Efficient long-distance wireless power transmission remained a much greater challenge.

Tesla continued pursuing that ambition in the early 1900s with his Wardenclyffe Tower project on Long Island. He envisioned a system that could transmit information and potentially electrical energy over great distances, but the project never achieved his full vision.

The photograph of Tesla and Twain captures more than a meeting between a scientist and a writer. It reflects a period when electricity was transforming everyday life and inventors were beginning to imagine possibilities that once seemed impossible.

Sometimes, a single historical photograph offers a glimpse of the moment when the future was still being invented.

A Chinese robotics company has unveiled a massive humanoid robot standing approximately 13 feet tall and weighing around 2,400 pounds, highlighting China’s growing ambitions in industrial robotics.

The machine’s reported lifting capacity exceeds 1,100 pounds, making it considerably larger and potentially stronger than most humanoid robots currently being developed.

Unlike smaller humanoid robots designed to walk through offices, homes, or warehouses, machines of this size could eventually be used for heavy industrial work.

Potential applications include moving large components, handling equipment in factories, and performing dangerous tasks in environments where human workers face significant risks.

However, building a giant robot involves challenges that go far beyond simply increasing its size.

As robots become heavier, their motors, joints, and structural components must withstand much greater forces.

Engineers also need to solve problems involving balance, energy consumption, heat management, and precise movement.

A robot capable of lifting hundreds of kilograms must be able to control that weight safely without losing stability.

Modern humanoid robots increasingly combine electric motors, advanced sensors, computer vision, and artificial intelligence to understand their surroundings and coordinate movements.

China has become a major center for humanoid robotics development, with companies investing in machines designed for manufacturing, logistics, and other industrial applications.

However, an exhibition display does not necessarily demonstrate that a robot can walk independently or lift its advertised maximum weight.

The exact specifications and lifting capabilities of the machine shown have not been independently verified.

The larger development is the growing effort to build robots that can perform physically demanding work alongside humans.

German scientists are developing a revolutionary new type of battery that could last up to 30 YEARS and store renewable energy without using lithium! 🔋🌍

Researchers at Germany's Fraunhofer Institute are exploring alternative battery technologies that use abundant materials such as iron and oxygen instead of relying on expensive lithium.

One particularly promising technology, known as an iron-air battery, uses a chemical reaction involving iron and oxygen to store and release electricity.

Scientists have developed experimental electrodes designed to withstand more than 10,000 charging cycles, potentially allowing the technology to operate for decades.

Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, these systems could offer a cheaper and more sustainable way to store large amounts of renewable energy.

That means excess electricity generated by wind turbines and solar panels could potentially be saved for periods when the sun isn't shining or the wind isn't blowing.

Although the technology is still being developed and its long-term performance needs further testing, researchers believe it could play an important role in the future of clean energy.

A potentially huge breakthrough in making renewable electricity more reliable, affordable, and sustainable. 🌱⚡
