Leland gal began in early 2012, when Maggie discovered her passion for designing patterns with the vibrant colors from her own paintings. It stemmed from having to teach her (then) young students about graphic design. Using Leland as her muse, Maggie paints with an eye toward creating a repeating design. She manipulates the paintings to make patterns and adds extra color from Leland gal's established, signature palette. Then, her careful designs are printed to fabric, sold by the yard in the shop or custom-sewn into original products such as bags, blankets, clothing and pillows.

This summer and fall, I’d been lucky enough to be included with some patient ladies teaching me the ways of Mahj, and all that comes with it. We did not make this size bag with this in mind, but when I played, HALF of the ladies that showed up had their cards in their birch monogram bags that they had been given as gifts! Kismit! I’d say that many of our holiday orders this year are going out to all the mahj ladies and their foursomes that they have built relationships and connections during this fun (and more complicated than I’d given it credit for!) game. Thank you to everyone who has placed an order in the custom shop, it’s so fun thinking of all of the people feeling special receiving this treat, and for only $30, getting them for all of your ladies doesn’t break the bank either! Monday is your last day to order. ❤️
