A bathroom like this is where good planning really shows.

I'm Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This recent home remodeling project features a freestanding soaking tub, a walk-in glass shower, warm gray vertical tile, and brushed brass fixtures. The geometric floor tile ties it all together, and the large window brings in natural light that makes the whole space feel bigger.

A few things that matter on a bathroom remodel:
✔ Proper waterproofing behind the tile, not just on the surface
✔ Solid, level subfloor before any new flooring goes down
✔ Ventilation sized right so moisture doesn't cause problems later
✔ Fixtures and layout planned around how you actually use the room

Here's something a lot of homeowners don't think about. In older homes around Lewisburg and Columbia, I've seen bathrooms with soft spots in the floor that trace back to moisture issues below. Before I put new tile down, I check the crawl space. Crawl space repair or encapsulation now keeps that beautiful new floor from buckling in a couple years.

Fall is a great season for interior work like this. If you're in Lewisburg, Columbia, Murfreesboro, or anywhere in Middle Tennessee and thinking about a bathroom remodel or other home renovation, request a free estimate through the website and I'll walk you through your options.

Before anything goes up, the ground underneath has to be right.

I’m Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This photo shows a freshly dug trench leading toward a brick building, with a concrete path and caution tape to keep the area safe. Excavation is often the first step in foundation repair, utility work, or new construction—and doing it right sets everything up for success.

Why proper excavation matters:
• Footings at the correct depth and soil conditions for a level structure
• Water directed away from the foundation before issues start
• A safe, organized jobsite from start to finish

Many foundation cracks, settling, and damp crawl spaces trace back to drainage and soil problems at grade level. Serving Lewisburg, Columbia, and Murfreesboro, I’ve seen how fixing the ground and water flow first can save thousands later. Crawl space repair and encapsulation are no different—solve the cause, not just the symptoms.

Late fall is a great time to handle this before winter moisture moves in. If you’ve noticed cracks, settling, or drainage problems in Middle Tennessee, request a free estimate through our website and I’ll take an honest look.

A clean, open room like this does not happen by accident.

I'm Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This finished interior came together with smooth drywall, warm wood-look flooring, modern lighting, and large black-framed windows that pull in the view. When the structure, finishes, and layout are all planned together, a room feels bigger, brighter, and more comfortable to actually live in.

Things I pay attention to on a project like this:
• A level, dry subfloor before any flooring gets installed
• Windows sealed and flashed properly to keep out drafts and moisture
• Lighting placement planned before the drywall goes up

One thing a lot of homeowners don't realize is that bouncy floors or rooms that always feel damp often start below the house. Before we put down new flooring in older homes around Lewisburg and Columbia, I like to take a look at the crawl space first. Crawl space repair or encapsulation fixes the root problem so your new floors and finishes stay flat and dry for the long haul.

With fall settling in, this is a great window for interior remodeling before the holidays. A well-built deck adds years of enjoyment, and this recent Lewisburg project turned out sharp.

I’m Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. We built wide stairs for easy access, sturdy wood railings with black balusters, and a covered entry with a ceiling fan for warm afternoons. My goal is simple: build something that looks great now and stays solid for years.

What I never cut corners on:
• Properly set footings to prevent shifting or settling
• Quality fasteners and treated lumber for durability
• Proper flashing where the deck meets the house to prevent rot
• Code-built railings that last

Flashing is especially important—water damage at the attachment point is one of the most common (and most preventable) deck problems.

Late October is a smart time to plan—good weather, more open schedules, and you’ll be ready by spring.

A kitchen should work as hard as it looks.

I’m Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This recent remodel shows what happens when layout, lighting, and storage are planned together: crisp white cabinetry, a true working island, and open flow into the living area—easy to cook in and easy to live in. Good design starts with how you use the room every day.

What makes a kitchen remodel last:
• Cabinets and hardware built for daily use
• Layered lighting so counters and the island are truly functional
• Flooring that stands up to spills, traffic, and Middle Tennessee humidity

On older homes, I check below the surface first. Bouncy or uneven floors can point to crawl space problems—repair or encapsulation fixes the cause instead of covering it up. If walls move or structure changes, foundation repair may need to come first.

Natural light can completely change how a room feels.

I’m Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction, and this finished space shows what remodeling done right looks like: smooth walls, durable wood-look flooring, and a layout that lets the windows do the work. A renovation isn’t just about looks—it should make the room more comfortable and useful.

What helps a renovation hold up:
• A solid, level subfloor before flooring goes down
• Proper window sealing to block drafts and moisture
• Lighting and airflow planned from the start

In many older Middle Tennessee homes, I check the crawl space before finishes. If there’s moisture or sagging, crawl space repair or encapsulation comes first so floors stay flat and dry.

A bathroom should feel like a retreat, not a chore to walk into.

I'm Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction, and this recent bathroom renovation here in Lewisburg turned out exactly the way we planned it. Freestanding soaking tub, walk-in glass shower, warm gray tile, and a patterned floor that pulls the whole room together. As a home remodeling contractor, I always tell homeowners the same thing: a good bathroom remodel is about layout and moisture control first, finishes second.

A few things I pay close attention to on every bathroom project:

• Proper waterproofing behind the tile and around the shower
• Ventilation so humidity doesn't cause problems down the road
• Solid subfloor before any new flooring goes in

That last one matters more than people realize, especially in older Middle Tennessee homes. If I find moisture coming up from below, crawl space repair or crawl space encapsulation needs to happen before we put a dime into new finishes. Fixing it first protects the whole investment.

Fall is a great season for interior remodeling work, and getting a bathroom done now means enjoying it all winter long.

There's nothing quite like handing over the keys on a brand new home build.

I'm Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction, and this recently completed two-story home is a good example of what careful planning gets you. From the foundation up, every phase matters. Getting the site prep and concrete work right at the start is what keeps a home solid for decades, and that's something I take seriously as a general contractor here in Middle Tennessee.

Projects like this usually involve more than just the house itself. Homeowners often add on:

• A deck off the back for enjoying the property
• A pole barn for equipment, vehicles, or a workshop
• A retaining wall to manage sloped ground like this lot

Fall is actually one of the best times to start planning a new build or home addition. The weather cooperates, and getting started now means real progress before winter slows things down.

A kitchen doesn't have to be complicated to work well. It just has to be planned right.

I'm Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This recent home remodeling project brought together white cabinetry, warm wood flooring, a center island with real workspace, and a backsplash that adds character without overwhelming the room. As a general contractor, I've learned that kitchens live or die by the details, so we map out cabinet placement, lighting, and appliance spacing before a single cabinet comes off the wall.

One thing homeowners around Columbia and Murfreesboro ask me about is whether their floor can handle new finishes. In older homes, I often check for moisture issues underneath first. Crawl space repair or crawl space encapsulation done ahead of time protects that new flooring investment for years to come.

With the holidays coming up, fall is a smart time to get a kitchen project on the schedule so the space is ready when family gathers.

A retaining wall is only as good as what you don’t see once it’s finished.

I’m Chris Sullivan with C & X Construction. This Columbia project shows what it takes to build a wall that lasts: excavation to solid ground, a compacted gravel base, steel rebar, and proper drainage behind the wall. Skipping these steps is why walls end up leaning or cracking after a few wet seasons—especially in Middle Tennessee, where soil holds water and pressure builds fast.

Proper wall prep includes:
• Excavation to undisturbed soil
• Compacted gravel base
• Steel rebar reinforcement
• Drainage behind the wall

October is a great time to tackle retaining walls before winter rains. If you’ve got a sloped yard, a failing wall, or drainage issues, request a free estimate through the website and I’ll take a look.
