A peek into the living room at the Manito Cottage!

A custom, two-sided Italian lime plaster fireplace, handcrafted by artist , is one of the most defining moments of craftsmanship in this home, and it’s on full display. When it comes to a living room, one of the rooms in a home we use almost every day, functionality is important, but so are those little moments of “wow!”

I still love the way all of these materials came together in this bathroom, this many years later! The glossy blue tile has the prettiest variation in color, almost like a watercolor painting. The round, frameless mirror is another favorite detail! Its built-in LED lighting gives us that beautiful, soft glow without needing a traditional vanity light above it.

Special thanks to: Daniel Tomczek, .spokanevalley.wa, , Five Star Plumbing, and David Busse!

Maybe it’s the artist in me, but I get so excited about the possibilities that art introduces to a room.

Sometimes a favorite painting inspires an entire color palette. Other times, we have the opportunity to bring together a collection, like the colorful gallery above the piano in our Golfer’s Paradise project. I love the contrast between the expressive, larger-than-life golf landscape and the playful compositions in their beautiful frames.

There’s so much color and personality in this home, and I love every bit of it! 🩷

Some of my favorite design challenges begin with a floor plan that just isn’t working quite the way it should. Our Manito Cottage project, a whole-home renovation, was an opportunity to rethink the layout, introduce a more personal design direction, and discover new possibilities within the home’s original architecture.

And after all the planning, drawings, decisions, and months of renovation, hearing that our clients loved the experience enough to say they would do it all over again is just about the best compliment I could imagine! 💙
