Milkshake Willy

I STARTED OVER 5 YRS AGO.

Since I have worked on hundreds of Malt & Milkshake Mixers, I frequently get questions about how I got started restoring these Hamilton Beach mixers and keeping them out of the landfills. This KLTV Human Interest Segment from 2024 tells just how I became passionate about fixing these mixers as a hobby in my retirement.
I hope to see you in Canton, TX October 29 - November 1, 2026. Stop by and say hello!

FRIDAY FEATURE: MODEL 12

I currently don’t have a model 12, but it is a unique mixer to show you. It came from the 1920’s era and has a unique look.

This model 12 is the original color. It has not been re-porcelained, nor painted. As shown, it was introduced in a darker green than the iconic Jadeite Green. The metal label on the front was in great condition which was in a similar shape as a Fireman or Police Officers badge. It had a strong motor and was very sharp looking!

This is the Hamilton Beach model 12. If you have one of these, you are among the lucky select few. Hamilton Beach was just getting into a heavier duty mixer market in the early 1920s. This model is considered to be a medium duty.
After reconditioning this machine, I was really surprised at how much power it has. I was impressed! The metal shield on the face of the head looks very classy, and the model 12 itself is a classic.

The Hamilton Beach model 10:

This model 10 was considered a medium duty mixer from the early 1920’s. Like the model 5, it came from the malt era, but it has a larger motor compared to the model 5. This is able to make a milkshake with ice cream.

It was also used to make mixed drinks despite Prohibition being enforced in Jan. 1920. It has a dapper, detailed band across the front of the motor, with the large “10” boldly in the middle. This is a sharp machine that had the strength and power for that era. It’s all metal which is why it is still working today, over 😎 💯 years later.

Look at all of those model 51 mixers. The MALT MIXER MAN will be in Bentonville, AR this weekend. Bentonville is a happening place and this weekend the best place to be will be at the Benton County Fairgrounds for Vintage Market Days.

He will have the beautiful, colorful model 51 mixers, as well as all the other Hamilton Beach mixers. He usually brings out his unique mixers, and even shows mixers from different manufacturers in that era.

I’m not going to be able to be up there this weekend to see them, but if you see him, tell him that I sent you. 😉😎

Hamilton Beach, model 5

This Hamilton Beach Malt Mixer was produced around 1919 to create malts. The motor did not have to be particularly strong because ice cream was not introduced yet. All it had to mix together was milk, your favorite flavor like vanilla, 🍓strawberry, or 🍫chocolate, and the powdered Malt. This model 5 would mix and aerate a perfect malt.
Unfortunately, mine shown here does not have the cupholder that extends from the base to hold the cup in place. In order to start the mixer, you would push down the head of the mixer into the cup which sits on a unique solid marble base and a latch holds the head down to continue mixing. 🧋
It is able to mix in ice cream as well. 😊

Malted Milk added to milk & your favorite ice cream is still a favorite to many.

This was the thinking of the day, decades ago in early to mid 1900s. 🥱 Any trouble sleeping? 😴🤫
Horlick’s Malted Milk could aid you in getting the rest you needed to wake refreshed and ready to start your day. 😃!

I have been very lucky to meet so many people who enjoy making their own malt or milkshake exactly the way they like it. Look at all those smiles 😋😀
The all time classic single flavor Vanilla, the perfect pairing of 2 flavors, the unique combination of several flavors, the chocoholic 🍫🍫delight, and many times a variety of 🍍🥥🥭🍓fruits, all make a unique malt, milkshake, or power drink. The varieties are endless. Enjoy your favorite combination!🧋🧋🧋

FRIDAY FEATURE:

These Hamilton Beach mixers were made between 1929 and 1963. That iconic Jadeite green remains the most recognized and sought after color.

We need to keep up the good work out there since we are half way through July. With July as National Ice Cream Month it’s our patriotic duty ♥️🤍💙 to make and create new ways to celebrate that delicious flavored, creamy treat.
If you haven’t started yet, it’s time to begin. Of course😉 I would recommend a 😉 milkshake or a malt.
