Behind every finished space are hundreds of decisions that most people never see. How materials relate to one another, how undertones change in different light, how scale and proportion affect a space, what will stand the test of time, and how all the details come together to create a cohesive whole.
My architectural background has taught me to look at a space beyond the individual finishes. I’m always thinking about proportion, balance, function, and how the materials will work together as part of the architecture.
A sample can be beautiful on its own and still be completely wrong for a project.
The expertise is knowing the difference.
This is the part of the design process clients don’t always see, but it’s a big part of what you’re investing in when you hire a designer.
