Sunday, November 1 • 11am 🌶️

We’re thrilled to welcome chef, food writer and recipe developer Rachel Gurjar to the shop to celebrate her debut cookbook, EAST TO EAST: Recipes and Stories from Mumbai to New York ✨

This is a book about building a life between two places, told through the food that made it possible. Mumbai-raised and New York–based, Rachel traces the road from her childhood kitchen to a freezing midwinter arrival in NYC (and the street taco that changed how she cooks). The recipes live right in that overlap: Salmon Red Kari, Paneer with Sungold Tomatoes and Basil, a Chicken Kebab Caesar, Shrimp Biryani with Pineapple Raita, Spicy Butter Masala Pasta, and a Cardamom Sticky Toffee Cake we’ve already bookmarked. Dirty Chai Espresso Martinis, too. Obviously.

Rachel will be in conversation with adrianna adarme, who knows a thing or two about cooking that feels like home.

Stories of leaving home, finding your footing, and cooking your way back to yourself are some of our favorites to put on these shelves. We can’t wait to hear Rachel tell this one in person.

Sunday morning at the market 🌱🌿

Hey! We’re popping up at the iconic The Hollywood Farmers' Market thanks to our friends at Food Access LA to welcome Timothy Pakron for a book signing and meet and greet celebrating his new cookbook, GARDEN VARIETY: Plant-Focused Recipes Inspired by My Garden ✨

As a kid, Timothy Pakron watched his father tend the family garden and knew he’d one day dig in roots of his own. After MISSISSIPPI VEGAN, he moved to New Orleans and finally did, turning the plot behind his house into a patch of herbs, greens, roots, and fruit that now steers his cooking through the seasons. The result is plant-based cooking with real Southern soul: Bay Leaf Roasted Corn slicked with miso chive butter, Crispy Okra & Turmeric Rice with fried curry leaves and peanuts, a Garden Gumbo built on roasted mushrooms, and Oven-Braised Cabbage over black-eyed pea hummus. It’s also a deeply useful book, with Timothy’s methods for roasting and sautéing any vegetable, baking a batch of rice to keep on hand, seasoning beans just right, and the homemade condiments that pull it all together. And yes, he shot every photo himself - a true labor of love.

A book this rooted in the garden belongs at the market, surrounded by the growers who feed this city. Fill your bags, come say hello, and take home a signed copy!
