References to Mexican Ceramic Objects 🌹

Mexico has played a pivotal role in ceramic history for thousands of years, with Indigenous civilizations developing distinctive forms, techniques, and visual languages long before colonization.

Ceramics in Mexico are not simply a craft tradition; they are a living cultural language that connects ancient traditions to contemporary art.

With so many friends and members from Mexico it only feels right to pay homage to the history that has influenced so many artists today.

Super excited to be releasing our very first color line of glazes into the world-available for preorder on our website in the US & Canada- this was a labor of love that took a lot of testing, research of minerals, and repeated firings. The glazes were initially inspired by rock and stone textures which led to further curiosities. It only felt right as I learned glaze chemistry before ceramics.

An enormous thank you to everyone who helped on this project- Sasha Bailey, Elianah S, Alex Vergara, Ilis Geronimo, Chinelo Ufondo, Clayton Boyd, Zack Nathanson, Gabrielle Datau, Rachel Kim, Andy Chow, Leonard, and so many more. 🩶🩶🩶

💚💚 Extremely excited to be hosting a very special 4 week coil building class with Ilis Geronimo- an incredibly talented ceramicist that uses wheel-throwing and coil-building techniques. The majority of her work consists of unglazed stoneware plant pots. Inspired by Central American, Classical Greek and Roman ceramics. Her focus on pottery comes from an interest in improving local ecology, and encouraging people with outdoor space to include plants and create habitat.
