This took a really long ride in the freeze dryer last week due to it being Junk Jaunt and me being sick, but they still turned out so vibrant and pretty!
We still have another picking that should come from all of these.
I’ll probably make a big batch of southwest stuffed pepper casserole for the freeze dryer with those 😋

How to have a heart attack while doing laundry….
Reach into the bottom of your washer wondering how a broken shoe lace got in there, only to pull it out to eye level and realize its a baby snake 😳🫣
I dont mind snakes, at all. As long as they arent a danger to my animals they stay. But I didn’t expect to have one in my hand when I reached into the washer.
Poor guy went for a wild ride before his drowning death, assuming he was alive when he went in.

I don’t know how big this bowl is, but it holds a lot of pico! 😋
I had to go to the store for cilantro, but everything else came out of the garden.
I picked all the ripe tomatoes today, but we have just as many green out there. Should be able to get one more round in. As well as a ton of hot peppers and sweet peppers. The bug pressure has finally let off.

Playing in the garden today.
As I picked tomatoes and peppers, Mark pulled some of the spent plants and weeded.
The chickens got themselves a good garden salad of lettuce, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes and basil.
We attempted to set Trooper (our lone pheasant) free, but he wasn’t interested lol

Who knew that Nebraska had pelicans! Not me!
We went fishing on Calamus Reservoir yesterday and it was cold and drizzling. But we packed the live well full of bass, crappy, and at the last minute Mark got this channel catfish. Our guide cleaned it for us and we brought it home to flash freeze in the freeze dryer. Now its all vacuum sealed and ready for fish tacos!
Mark is working on putting the video together so watch for that to be posted soon!

Ignoring the fact that I was too lazy to package up the finished stuff in better lighting than my grow lights (🤪), I preserved some of our farm grown fruit, along with some peaches I was given and some papaya.
Our home grown watermelon and honey dew did great! As did the papaya. The peaches I had pureed with honey and cinnamon and prefroze in molds but stupidly, I added them to the machine before it was cold enough and they melted before they could refreeze again, losing their shape 🤦🏻‍♀️ But they still taste great! And now we have peach chips! I chunked up the papaya but one of them was very ripe and so it was basically mush. Perfect freeze dried for my morning yogurt.

Homemade oatmeal cream pies.
Im not much of an oatmeal cookie fan but I had some leftover oreo filling and my friend recommended doing these. I have some saved for you Sam 😉
