Sometimes the next trend looks a lot like a classic.

This custom home is one of the first to feature West End Antique, a new brick blend currently in development.

We're excited to watch this project take shape and see how homeowners respond to a richer, more traditional palette.

Do you see red brick making a big comeback? 🧱

The most sustainable buildings aren't the ones that generate the most energy, they're the ones that need the least.

The path to net zero starts with designing buildings that stay cooler, use less energy, and work with their environment instead of against it.

That's why architects spend so much time thinking about sunlight, shading, orientation, and the materials that shape a building's exterior. Every decision affects how a building performs for decades to come.

Materials like Agrob Buchtal terracotta cladding can help manage solar heat gain while adding depth, texture, and character to a facade. It's a reminder that sustainability isn't always found in the latest technology. Sometimes it's built into the architecture itself.

Thoughtful design, enduring materials, better performing buildings.

A new addition to the Upper West Side, designed as if it's always belonged.

At the corner of 84th Street and Broadway, The Henry carries forward the neighborhood's tradition of grand residential architecture while adding a new chapter to one of New York City's most iconic streetscapes.

Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA), the 18-story tower draws inspiration from the classic apartments that define the Upper West Side. Brick was a key part of that vision, helping the building feel rooted in its surroundings through a palette and texture reminiscent of the neighborhood's celebrated pre-war architecture.

The result is a building that feels both timeless and contemporary, proving that thoughtful design and enduring materials can help new construction blend seamlessly into the character of a historic city.

The best maintenance plan is not needing one.

Brick has been trusted for centuries because it simply lasts.

No repainting. No peeling. No rot. No termites. Just an exterior designed to look great and perform for decades.

It's one of the few materials homeowners may never have to touch again.

Some of the most memorable buildings on a college campus are the ones students call home.

Opened in Fall 2025, McCasland Hall was designed to enhance the first year student experience at the The University of Oklahoma. The new residence hall provides a welcoming place for students to live, learn, and build community during their first year on campus.

A custom red brick mingle helps tie the building to OU's established architectural character, creating a residence hall that feels at home on campus from day one.

It's a great example of why colleges and universities continue to choose brick. Beyond durability and longevity, brick helps create a cohesive campus identity and a sense of place that can be felt across generations of students.

A Day in the Life of a Ryder Driver Delivering Brick, Mortar & Block for Acme Brick – Lubbock, Texas

Before the sun gets too high over the South Plains, the day starts with a walk-around inspection of the truck, trailer, and truck-mounted forklift. Safety comes first. Tires, straps, lights, and equipment are checked before the first load rolls out.

Loaded with pallets of Acme Brick products, mortar, and block, the driver heads to construction sites across Lubbock and the surrounding area. Every load must arrive safely, on time, and ready for crews to get to work.

The photos show key parts of the job:

Securing the load – Heavy bulk bags of masonry material are strapped down and checked to ensure they remain stable during transit.

Unstrapping at the jobsite – Before unloading, each strap is carefully released while maintaining control of the load and following site safety procedures.

Operating the truck-mounted forklift – The Palfinger forklift is unloaded from the rear of the trailer and prepared for delivering materials exactly where the contractor needs them.

West Texas heat, dusty job sites, tight delivery locations, and changing schedules are all part of the routine. A successful driver must combine CDL driving skills, equipment operation, customer service, and constant attention to safety.

By the end of the day, dozens of tons of brick, mortar, and block may have been delivered to homes, schools, businesses, and construction projects throughout the region. While most people only see the finished buildings, Ryder drivers and Acme Brick delivery teams help make those projects possible one load at a time.

"From the yard to the jobsite—delivering quality materials safely, efficiently, and on time across West Texas." 🚛🧱🏗️

The images capture a real snapshot of that work: securing cargo, preparing for unloading, and deploying the truck-mounted forklift to place materials where builders need them most.

From Beth Gonzales, our Lubbock dispatcher:

A little Acme Brick history that is close to my heart. ❤️🧱

I’ve been with the company for just over a year now, but my family’s connection goes back much further. Last week, my dad and I were sitting around talking about “the old days” and he told me that back in 1962, he worked as day laborer at our old Avenue A location here in Lubbock.

He was 16 ½ years old and he was running the gas station on the corner of Avenue A and 34th Street 7am to 7pm as his “regular” job 7 days a week making $1.10 an hour. His bring home pay for the week at the gas station was $49.50. BUT he could unload bricks from rail cars completely by hand, with no forklifts or shortcuts, making just 1 cent per brick. He could unload three straps of brick an hour. (Unload, stack, band, and set up for the forklift to move them). He laughed and told me, “I could make more money an hour unloading brick at a penny a piece than I could working an hour at the gas station. $3.20 an hour beats $1.10 an hour any day”.

I was laughing so hard at the way he was telling that story. One, I found it cool that he had worked at Acme too, and two, he said that they used an old “hand truck with forks welded to it” to move the brick straps to a location that the forklift could pick them up and move them. Hearing about that level of grit and hard work really made me stop and think. Every single brick had to be lifted, carried, and stacked one at a time.

My dad turns 81 this year, and his story makes me so proud to be part of this legacy. To me, that dedication is the foundation of what Acme Brick stands for.

If you or your family have a story about Acme Brick from the past or present, we would love to hear it in the comments! ❤️🧱
