TJD is hiring a positive, highly organized, and technically skilled Design Assistant with 2+ years experience to join our Lynchburg, Virginia team.

If you’re passionate about creating exceptional work and want to grow with an experienced, collaborative design firm, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for someone who notices the details, sees what needs doing and jumps in, loves a well-defined process, and is just as excited about the technical and construction side of design as the creative.

This is a hands-on position with exposure to the full design process and the behind-the-scenes workings of an interior design studio—from CAD drawings and material selections to client presentations, trade coordination, construction, procurement, and final installations.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is required.

Meet Abbie, our Admin & Procurement Coordinator. With a Fortune 500 background in corporate operations, program management, and administrative coordination, Abbie brings a thoughtful, detail-driven approach to the behind-the-scenes systems that keep Tera Janelle Design running. ​

Before joining TJD, Abbie spent six years in the corporate HR world. There she honed her strengths in organization, proactive communication, and bringing structure to complexity. At Tera Janelle Design, Abbie thrives behind the scenes keeping operations and the procurement process running smoothly, allowing our creative team to thrive and deliver an exceptional client experience.​

Abbie studied International Studies, French, and Russian at the University of Wyoming, where her love of culture, travel, and communication first began to take shape. During her studies, she completed study abroad programs in both Russia and the United Kingdom, experiences that deepened her appreciation for thoughtful details, connection, and new perspectives. Outside the studio, Abbie enjoys discovering great Asian food, traveling, growing her sticker collection, and continuously learning.

TJD is hiring! We’re seeking a Design Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced residential interior design studio.

We’re looking for someone who notices the details, sees what needs doing and jumps in, loves a well-defined process, and is just as excited about the technical side of design as the creative.

This is a hands-on internship with exposure to the full design process and the behind-the-scenes workings of an interior design studio—from CAD drawings and material selections to client presentations, trade coordination, procurement, and final installations.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is required. We’re looking for a current interior design student, recent graduate, or emerging designer who already has a strong technical foundation and is ready to build upon it in a professional studio environment.

25 YEARS! I fell head over heels when I first saw you walking across that soccer field in South Africa when I was 17 years old, and I have not stopped falling for you since. Thank you for being an incredible dad to our girls, for putting in the hard work (cause 25 years of marriage is hard work!), and for always making me laugh. You are the spontaneity to my structure, the humor to my worry, the technical to my creative, and a physical daily reminder that no matter what happens in life, if I have you and the girls I have it ALL. I love doing life with you. Happy 25 years!
