We were honestly not quite ready for cows. We wanted to give ourselves time. Time to get used to having the turkeys, then the pigs. The cows were a next year project. The deal was too good to pass on.
Gus Gus is a pure proven Highland bull.
Hefilin is part highland.
Their daughter is Daisy. She’s 2 years old.
I absolutely love cows. They’re such a nostalgic animal for me. They bring me back to my childhood and my grandparents’ house. So many wonderful memories. Happy that my kids get to experience this life

Cats sleep in the weirdest places. I think they feel like they just MUST try any new spot. This time it’s my husband’s work area. He’s tidying up his trailer and he put some stuff on this table, and, of course, Maple had to test it. She seems to be enjoying it

One thing that I love about Missouri and missed when we lived in California is the rain. California has months with no rain, and endless heat. Yes, it’s dry heat, but it feels like forever. It would be so much more bearable if it rained occasionally.
This rain is just what we needed. Such a welcome change. Everything is refreshed. It smells amazing too.

This Guinea keet had a VERY BAD case of splay leg and his feet were stuck in a downward claw shape. I had to construct special “sandals” that not only kept his toes in the correct position, but also pulled his feet up, so he can put his foot down. Then I used rubber bands to keep his legs together. Poor thing used to lean left and fall, and spin in circles. Happy to report he is a bit wobbly but able to walk straight now
