This time, I’m designing for my own home! ✏️🪵

I’m building a furniture-style vanity for our bathroom, and it starts here—with sketches, planning, and pieces coming together in the shop.

My background in woodworking shapes how I approach design: thinking through how something will look, how it will function, and how it will be built. It’s especially fun to put that into practice on a personal project.

I’ll share more as this vanity takes shape. Would you choose a furniture-style vanity for your bathroom?

A cramped kitchen beside an oversized entry room—this home had space, but the layout wasn’t giving the family what they needed.

The dining table was squeezed into a kitchen corner, while the separate entry had become a catchall for everyday belongings.

We reimagined the two rooms together. Removing the dividing wall brought light from the entry windows into the kitchen and allowed us to create purposeful places for cooking, gathering, and coming home.

The new layout included:
• A large dining table in front of the windows
• Additional refrigerator and freezer columns for locally sourced meats and produce
• A dedicated mudroom area for coats, bags, and shoes

In the adjoining office, a bar with rich wood cabinetry and a brick-look backdrop carried the design into the next room while giving the husband the more masculine feel he wanted.

Every decision started with how this family lives. That’s what makes a kitchen truly functional.

What would make the biggest difference in your home: more room to gather, better food storage, or a dedicated drop zone?

A kitchen should fit the way your family actually cooks, gathers, and moves. What is one thing your current kitchen makes harder than it needs to be?

What would you change?

This home was inherited, and the homeowners lived with it as it was for a long time. Eventually, the wife decided she was ready for a change—and ready to make the home truly feel like hers.

As they approached the empty-nest stage, she envisioned a grand kitchen that would make a statement within their open-concept main level. Her bold personality inspired the deep green cabinetry, paired with creamy quartz countertops, a geometric marble backsplash, and black and gold accents throughout.

Of course, a beautiful kitchen still needs to function well. We incorporated a pot filler, pop-up island outlets, pull-out trash storage, pan organizers, and generous drawers to make everyday life easier.

The result is a kitchen that honors the home’s history without being limited by it. It is bold, luxurious, highly functional—and completely personal to the homeowner.

Could you see yourself choosing cabinetry this bold?

The best design decisions start with daily routines. Where do backpacks land? Who cooks together? What needs to be within reach? These answers shape the plan.

Before the design comes the details. 📐

Great spaces don’t start with finishes, colors, or cabinetry. They start with understanding the space—and that means measuring everything.

Windows, walls, ceiling heights, plumbing locations, electrical, existing cabinetry… every detail matters when we begin building a design that not only looks beautiful, but actually works in your home.

It may not be the glamorous part of the design process (especially when it involves standing in a bathtub 😅), but accurate measurements give us the foundation we need to create a thoughtful, functional plan.

Because good design isn’t just about making a space look different.

It’s about making sure every inch has a purpose.

This is where the vision starts to feel real. ✨

One of the most exciting parts of the design process is taking all of the ideas, selections, measurements, and conversations we’ve had and bringing them together in a rendering.

But renderings aren’t just about creating a pretty picture.

They allow us to explore the space before construction begins—testing layouts, cabinetry, finishes, proportions, and those little details that can be difficult to visualize from a floor plan or individual samples alone.

It gives our clients the opportunity to see how everything works together, ask questions, make adjustments, and feel confident in the direction of their project before the first cabinet is installed.

There will always be differences between a rendering and the finished space, but that’s not the goal.

The goal is to turn an idea into something you can see, understand, and get excited about.

From concept → to rendering → to reality. 🤍

Sometimes the smallest pieces are the ones that bring the most character.

This little accent table was designed to be functional without fading into the background. The turned center, curved legs, and natural wood grain give it just enough personality to make it feel special—without overpowering the room.

That’s one of the things we love about custom woodworking: a piece doesn’t have to be large or elaborate to make an impact. Thoughtful proportions, beautiful material, and a few carefully considered details can do a lot.

Furniture should feel like it belongs in your home—not like it was simply placed there.

Have a spot in your home that needs just the right piece? Let’s create it.
