šŸ‚ Fall beauty has a purpose.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons in the garden. The colors, textures, berries, and dried flowers remind us that beauty doesn’t end when the blooms fade.

But there’s more happening than meets the eye.

Berries provide food for birds, seed heads offer nourishment, standing stems create shelter for beneficial insects, and fallen leaves help protect the soil and the life beneath them.

A beautiful garden doesn’t have to be perfectly cleaned up to be well cared for.

Sometimes, doing a little less is exactly what nature needs.

At Jade Garden Design, we believe thoughtful garden design and ecological care go hand in hand.

Let your garden be beautiful, even as it rests. šŸ

A garden should feel like it was made just for you. 🌿

For this project in Harrison, NY, our client wanted the timeless structure of boxwoods combined with the softness of a more natural, low-maintenance garden.

We brought both ideas together, creating an evergreen framework surrounded by a thoughtful mix of native and non-native, non-invasive plants that add texture, movement, and seasonal color.

Structured, yet natural. Beautiful in every season.

And this is just the beginning! We can’t wait to see this garden grow.

Another fall garden designed by us! šŸ‚

Rich burgundy tones, vibrant purples, soft silvery foliage, and delicate grasses create a beautiful mix of colors and textures.

I love how every season brings something different to a garden, and fall is definitely one of my favorites!

Fall doesn’t mean the garden has to stop blooming.

Asters bring a beautiful burst of purple just as many summer perennials begin to fade, while grasses and seed heads add texture and movement throughout the garden.

This is one of my favorite things about designing for the seasons: creating a garden that still feels alive, colorful, and interesting well into fall.

A little reminder that every season can have its moment in the garden.

From design to reality 🌿

This garden came with a few challenges: lots of shade, deer pressure, and an existing landscape that needed a refresh.

The goal was to create a more organized and welcoming garden while still keeping the natural feeling of the property. We reused some of the existing plants, added evergreen structure, and layered in different foliage, textures, and seasonal color that will work well in the shade.

Everything is still small and freshly planted, but I already love how the different textures are coming together. Now we give it time to settle in and grow. 🌱

Can’t wait to see this one next spring!

And it’s finally planted!

This front yard has officially come to life, with layers of color, texture, and movement designed to create a warm and welcoming entrance.

The idea was to keep what was worth keeping, reuse some existing plants in the new design, and relocate others to the backyard. Then we added new plants to bring more structure, seasonal color, and interest to the garden.

I love seeing the difference already, but this is just the beginning. The perennials are still small, and everything needs time to settle in, grow, and fill the space. Next spring and summer will be a completely different garden.

From plan → planting → now we let it grow.

A client sent me this photo while we were working on her garden, and I loved it. I’m usually the one taking pictures of the plants, the process and the finished garden, so it was nice to see myself from the other side.

Plans in hand, plants everywhere… pretty much where I’m happiest. 🌿

A few of my favorite planters from this season.

My love for plants goes beyond the garden. I also really enjoy designing containers, playing with color, texture, movement, and different plant combinations.

I especially love how planters can bring so much color and joy to a space and to people; sometimes, just one beautiful container can completely change a little corner or entrance.

And of course, I love watching them fill in and change through the season.

Here are a few of my favorites.
