Amazed by the different root structures of plants... Surprising myself by learning to id plants of the same kind by their root structures, and this one's a doozy already!

Happy Kansas Pollinator Week! We'll be celebrating all week by posting our pollinators... Post your pics below and share...

Happy Kansas Pollinator Week! We'll be celebrating all week by posting our pollinators... Post your pics below and share how you celebrate!

Pollinator species, such as birds and insects, are essential partners of our farmers and ranchers in producing our food supply. Kansas Pollinator Week serves as a reminder that we must protect and promote pollinators and their ecosystems.

Winter sowing is here! January is a great time to start seeds.
Trying germination of New Jersey Tea for the first time. These seeds need extra scarification before stratification, which for these involved pouring boiling water over the seeds and soaking for 24+ hours at room temp. I had a cup of peppermint tea since the water was hot! Viable seeds will tend to sink, which if that's correct and conditions are favorable the next few weeks, we should see some good growth in March/April.
Happy Planting!
