October 1st… and here we go! The holidays are just around the corner.
We may not have four distinct seasons in the Rio Grande Valley, but I still feel the change. I start wearing something whimsical and keeping a little hidden gem in my purse, my car, or my pocket—something that lets me dream about the holidays ahead.
This year, I’m creating more than a beautiful end to the year. I’m writing a book about my daily life as an interior designer, builder, and creator—and about the woman I am as a mother, daughter, sister, friend, lover, and wife. In many ways, I’m redesigning me.
I’m also learning more about my Lord Jesus. I’m thirsty to know Him more. I carry a journal, write my spiritual notes, and am creating what I call my Devotional by Design. I have more than 30 years of journals. Reading them reminds me where I’ve been, what I dreamed of, and how many prayers God has carried me through.
I like to say I’m God’s favorite daughter. I ask Him for a car, and He thinks bigger—He gives me somewhere to park it, too! His vision for my life has always been grander than mine.
Today I thank You, Lord, for protecting and healing my brother Johny and my sister Blanca. Thank You for watching over my grandchildren, my children, my family, my best friend, and my husband.
And most of all, thank You for teaching me to pray for those who have hurt me. Bless them, Lord. Bless them, too. ❤️
Here’s to October, to a wonderful end of the year, and to becoming the woman God is still creating me to be.
