🌿 You bought fall plants. Now what?
First, THANK YOU to everyone who shopped the CCMGA Fall Plant Sale yesterday! We loved seeing so many plants headed to new homes across Collin County.
Now comes the important part: helping them settle in.
🏡 Plant them as soon as practical, checking mature size, sunlight and drainage needs before you dig.
💧 During the first six weeks, focus on roots. Check soil moisture regularly and water when needed as roots begin moving into the surrounding soil.
🍂 Add mulch to help moderate soil temperature and conserve moisture—but keep it away from stems and trunks.
❄️ As winter arrives, don't panic if some perennials stop growing or die back above ground. Dormancy is normal.
And don't forget those new plants during dry winter weather. Their roots are still establishing, even when there isn't much happening above ground.
Keep this post handy as temperatures drop—we'll have more cold-weather guidance when North Texas gets closer to its first hard freeze.
Thank you again for supporting the CCMGA Fall Plant Sale and putting a little more green into Collin County. 💚
