And Suddenly, Architecture Becomes Nature. 🌿✨

This is the moment everyone loves watching!

Our pre-planted living wall panels are installed one by one, transforming a carefully prepared structure into a lush, dimensional vertical garden.

But the real work started long before this moment.

The botanical composition, plant selection, textures, colors, and planting patterns were thoughtfully designed and assembled in advance.

Pre-planting allows us to control the composition, establish the planting arrangement, and make the on-site installation more efficient.

13+ years of experience make a complex process look surprisingly effortless.

🎬 Part 3 of 3: From technical precision to living art.

Because at Miami Vertical Garden, we don’t simply install plants on walls. We design living architecture.

The Details You Won’t See in the Finished Garden. 🔩🌿

Next come the J-brackets—the mounting components that support and position our living wall panels.

One by one, each bracket is carefully attached according to the layout established during the measurement and leveling stage.

But there’s another important detail: the space behind the living wall.

Proper spacing allows air to circulate behind the panels, promoting ventilation, helping moisture dissipate, and reducing the risk of trapped humidity against the building surface.

This is the engineering side of vertical gardening. Every detail—from structural support to airflow—contributes to the long-term performance of the system.

Great living wall design isn’t only about what you see. It’s also about what you don’t.

🎬 Part 2 of 3: Building the foundation for the transformation.

A Beautiful Living Wall Begins with Precision. 📐🌿

Before the first plant goes up, every inch matters.

Measuring. Spacing. Leveling. Double-checking.

What looks like a simple grid of markings is actually the foundation of a living architectural feature.

Proper alignment and spacing are essential for a seamless installation, consistent panel placement, and long-term performance.

After 13 years of designing and installing living walls, we’ve learned that precision at the beginning prevents problems at the end.

🎬 Watch the process unfold in seconds. In reality, it’s a careful sequence of measurements and adjustments.

Part 1 of 3: Getting it right from the start.

And finally, the experience I had been looking forward to most at teamLab Planets Tokyo.

Imagine standing beneath thousands of living orchids, suspended in midair, floating above and around you.

As you move, the flowers rise and descend, transforming the space around your presence. The garden seems alive, almost as though it is breathing with you.

What makes this installation extraordinary is not simply its beauty, but the relationship it creates between people and nature.

You are no longer a spectator admiring a beautifully designed garden. You become part of the garden itself.

As someone who has spent 13 years designing living vertical gardens, I found this experience deeply inspiring.

It challenged my perception of what a garden can be. Not necessarily a place defined by walls, soil, or traditional landscaping, but an emotional, sensory experience that connects us to the living world.

Perhaps the future of garden design is not just about bringing nature closer to us, but about making us feel that we are part of it. 🌿

What if a garden could see you, too? 🌿

I had been looking forward to experiencing teamLab’s Floating Flower Garden for so long. But beyond its extraordinary visual beauty, I was even more intrigued by the philosophy behind it.

The installation is inspired by a Zen concept: Heaven and I share the same roots. All things and I are one.

As you enter, the living orchids rise to create space around you. You are no longer simply observing a garden. You become part of its composition.

The boundary between nature, art, and the observer begins to disappear.

As a garden designer, I find this idea particularly powerful.

The ultimate achievement of biophilic design may not be creating something beautiful to look at, but creating an environment where we truly feel we belong.

Not just bringing nature into our spaces. Bringing ourselves back into nature.

From floating orchids to an infinite universe of flowers. 🌸

Of everything I was looking forward to experiencing in Tokyo this time, teamLab’s Floating Flower Garden was at the very top of my list.

Imagine more than 13,000 of living orchids suspended in midair, rising and descending as visitors move through them. No traditional flower beds and planters, no pathways, no boundaries. Just flowers surrounding you in three dimensions.

Inspired by Zen philosophy, the installation explores the idea that humans and nature are not separate, but part of the same existence.

And then another interpretation of nature: Floating in the Falling Universe of Flowers.

An immersive digital world where flowers emerge, bloom, scatter, and disappear in a continuous cycle of life, death, and renewal.

Two extraordinary interpretations of the same subject. One uses real living plants. The other uses digital technology to create an endless floral universe.

After 13 years of designing living vertical gardens, what fascinates me most is how differently we can experience something as familiar as flowers.

The future of garden design may be less about what we see and more about what we feel when surrounded by nature.

Plant. Step back. Adjust. Repeat. 🌿

There’s something deeply satisfying about watching a living wall take shape.

Hands moving confidently. Plants finding their places. A design slowly turning into reality.

No unnecessary drama. No overthinking every movement.

Just a process we’ve practiced, tested, improved, and refined over 13 years.

If we make it look easy, that’s because we’ve done the hard work of learning how.

Another living wall coming to life!

10/16/2026

A little green here. A touch of burgundy there. Something trailing. Something bold. 🌱

Looks like we’re simply having fun arranging plants?

Well, we are! But there’s a lot more happening than meets the eye.

We’re creating rhythm, depth, movement, and visual balance with living materials that will continue growing long after we leave.

The goal isn’t to make every plant stand out.

It’s to make them all belong together.

Organized spontaneity. That’s our kind of design.

10/16/2026

Another project. Another blank canvas. Another opportunity to create something extraordinary. 🌿

After 13 years, you might think planting living walls becomes routine.

Quite the opposite.

Every new space brings a different perspective, a different composition, and a fresh creative challenge.

The process may be familiar, but the outcome is always unique.

And that’s what keeps us inspired.

Here we grow again!

WHAT COULD MIAMI LEARN FROM SINGAPORE?

Singapore makes me look at Miami differently.

The lesson from projects like Oasia Hotel Downtown isn’t that Miami should copy Singapore.

We shouldn’t.

Slightly different climate but very similar. Different wind conditions. Different building codes. Salt exposure. Hurricanes. Different plant palettes and maintenance realities.

But we should absolutely borrow the thinking.

Imagine Miami developments where landscape is considered from the first architectural sketch:

🌿 living facades instead of blank elevations
🌿 multi-story tropical gardens
🌿 green arrival experiences
🌿 planted parking structures
🌿 sky gardens between residential floors
🌿 vegetation integrated into hotel terraces and amenity decks
🌿 living walls extending from interiors into exterior architecture

Singapore’s LUSH — Landscaping for Urban Spaces and High-Rises — programme specifically uses development as an opportunity to replace greenery lost at ground level with greenery incorporated throughout buildings.

That idea is incredibly relevant to South Florida.

As Miami continues to build upward, the question shouldn’t only be:

How many square feet can we develop?

It should also be:

How much nature can we put back?

After more than a decade of designing living walls in Miami, I believe our biggest opportunity is no longer treating vertical greenery as an accessory.

The future is designing architecture and horticulture as one system.

Singapore has already shown us what that future can look like.

Miami can create its own version. 🌴🌿
