Bad flashing is a slow leak you don't see until it's expensive.
This exterior door was installed wrong when the house was built 8 years ago. Water had been getting behind it ever since — by the time we opened it up, the subfloor was gone.
We tore out the rotten decking, added structural support, rehung the door on a new jamb, and installed a storm door so it stays dry going forward.
