Can’t afford to re-sod the whole yard? You don’t have to do it all at once. 🟠
Overwhelmed by weeds, bare spots and the price tag? Start with one manageable section.
Here’s your November lawn plan from Garden Guy:
1. FLAG IT. Use orange flags to divide the yard into sections that fit your budget and energy. Pick one to tackle first.
2. USE THIS WEATHER! Houston’s heat makes lawn projects tough for much of the year. This milder fall weather is one of our favorite windows for tackling tough weeds with Celsius WG—while the weeds and established lawn are still actively growing. Identify your weeds and follow the label for your grass.
3. TREAT AND MONITOR. Measure your section, record your treatment date and take a before photo. Give the treatment time to work. Follow the label’s repeat-treatment limits and waiting period before laying sod.
4. PREP BEFORE YOU SOD. Never throw grass onto hard ground! Our process: scrape away old grass and debris, till 4–6 inches where appropriate, incorporate enriched topsoil as needed, then level and firm the surface. Lay tight, staggered seams, roll for soil contact and water thoroughly.
5. FINISH ONE SECTION. THEN TACKLE THE NEXT. Once weeds are controlled and the area is ready, December can be for re-sodding!
Garden Guy lays sod throughout the year around Houston, avoiding freezing conditions and temperatures above 100°F. If sod yards are cutting healthy grass and site conditions are suitable, we can generally lay it. Winter sod needs moisture and extra time to root.
Correct drainage, shade or irrigation problems before investing in replacement grass.
One finished section is progress. The whole yard doesn’t have to happen in one weekend. 💚
