🏠 An Important Reminder for Homeowners
Before hiring a painting contractor, always ask about their preparation process, the products they plan to use, and how those products will be applied.
On this deck, we discovered that regular house paint had previously been applied to the walking surface. Unfortunately, completely stripping the deck was outside the customer’s budget. We still spent more than 20 man-hours scraping and removing as much loose material as possible before applying the new coating.
The finished deck looks much better, but any new coating is only as strong as the layers underneath it. When the wrong product is used from the beginning, it can continue causing peeling and adhesion problems for years.
Proper preparation and the correct products may cost more upfront, but they can save homeowners thousands in future repairs.
