In Millbrook, New York you’ll find one of the state’s most magical castles…Wings Castle! Tucked along Bangall Road in the Hudson Valley, this one-of-a-kind stone castle is part bed and breakfast, part private home, and part living work of art. Peter and Toni Ann Wing began building it in 1970, and the castle has continued to grow piece by piece ever since, with towers, stone walls, archways, carved details, and hidden-feeling corners that make it feel like something from another time.
Much of the castle was made by hand using about 80% recycled materials, giving it a look that feels old, creative, and completely original. Overnight guests can stay in themed spaces such as the Dungeon Room, Chamber Room, Tower Room, Annex Suite, or nearby Cottage, and B&B stays include a guided 45-minute tour of the castle. The Annex and Dungeon are even connected by an underground tunnel, adding to the storybook feel of the place.
Toni Ann Wing still helps share the castle’s history with visitors, explaining how a dream slowly became a real home, stone by stone. While public access is limited unless you are staying there, guests get a close look at a place unlike anywhere else in New York. During your Millbrook visit, you can also stop by nearby Millbrook Vineyards & Winery, walk through the village, browse antique shops, and grab lunch or dinner at one of the local restaurants.
