🚨 GOOD FOAM vs. BAD FOAM — KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.
The first photos are examples of spray foam installations we’ve recently been called out to look at. The last photos show what a professional spray foam installation by LMC Insulation looks like.
There is a difference—and it matters.
Spray foam is one of the best insulation products available when it is processed and installed correctly. But spraying foam isn’t as simple as buying the equipment and pulling the trigger. Temperature, pressure, chemical ratio, substrate conditions, lift thickness and spray technique all matter.
Improperly processed foam—including off-ratio foam—may not cure or perform as intended. Warning signs can include unusual texture, soft or brittle areas, poor adhesion, shrinking or pulling away, inconsistent appearance, or persistent odors. Appearance alone doesn’t diagnose every foam problem, but these are reasons an installation should be evaluated.
Unfortunately, we’ve been to several jobs lately where customers were left with questionable or poorly installed foam—and then couldn’t get the original contractor to come back and make it right.
That’s exactly why we tell customers: don’t choose a spray foam contractor based on price alone.
We’ve been doing this for several years. We know our equipment, we know our products, and we know when the foam isn’t spraying the way it should. Most importantly, we stand behind the work we put our name on.
Saving a little money on the front end isn’t a savings if you have to pay someone to remove it and then pay for the job all over again.
Cheaper isn’t always better. Do it right the first time.
