We didn’t buy a finished house. We bought a house with potential.
We probably looked at 30+ houses before we bought our 1980s home. And we knew this place needed a lot of work to make it feel like home (and to be honest I can say with confidence we definitely underestimated our to do list 😆)
But our fixer upper checked so many boxes of what was REALLY important to us (one day I might go into all that) I did not get my chefs kitchen, dreamy en suite, or perfectly manicured landscaping.
BUT what I did get was trees, land, and a reason to learn how to DIY (cuz s**t costs money, ya know)
Do I love everything about our home? No absolutely not- I feel completely defeated some days. But I know we made the right decision.
If you’re in the buying process, first time home buyer or seasoned homeowner- give yourself permission to enjoy your home while you check off your to do list
