Chasing Classic Clocks! Episode 5. "Hyde and Seek!"
Still on our clock tour of the Northeast U.S. Today finds us at Hyde Hall near Cooperstown, NY. (The same family as in Hyde Park). Overlooking one of the finger lakes, this Regency style neoclassical country mansion was constructed starting in 1817. 5 generations of the Clarke family made this their home. This home claims to be the first big mansion in the country. All of the mansions that came afterwards have been compared to Hyde Hall. Unlike Jefferson's home at Monticello, 70% of the contents are original. They have a wonderful collection of original, working clocks! One is greeted on the front hall by a wonderful Scottish Drum clock. Enjoy the photo tour!
