The MAOarch team could not be more honored to announce that CAROLINA HERRERA Houston Boutique has been recognized at the Retail Design Institute’s 55th International Design Awards, Class of 2025, in the Soft-Line Stores category! 

What a truly special evening celebrating a project that reflects the thought, creativity, and collaboration that was poured into bringing this vision to life. A massive thank you to the Retail Design Institute and FIT NYC for organizing a wonderful ceremony. 

A heartfelt thank you to our MAOarch team members Maori Hughes, Katarina Lazarevic, Talya Moral, and Muiris Dore as well as every person who worked alongside us to make this project such a success. This recognition is a testament to what can be achieved through a shared vision and a collective passion for exceptional design.

We are incredibly proud to see this project recognized among our industry’s best and grateful to everyone who helped make it possible. Wishing a final congratulations to the 55th International Design Awards class of 2025 on some award winning projects! 🥂

Sometimes the best design tool is blue tape and a concrete floor.

This week, our team marked out an entire jewelry boutique on the raw concrete floor at the Waldorf Astoria. We measured out every wall, every case, every circulation path at full scale so that our client could walk it, adjust it, and leave knowing exactly what they’re getting.

Full-scale mockups on the floor tell you things that drawings and models can’t. No rendering can compare to what standing in a space does. You can’t fake scale.

More to come as we continue to carefully curate an exceptional space in this timeless New York landmark.

The MAOarch team was grateful to join Woman In Retail Architecture for an evening of connection, conversation, and community alongside so many talented women across the industry.

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the evening together; Patricia Barroso, Laura Dean, Nina Butler, and Anne Dudek. You all truly did such a wonderful job creating a space to connect, share perspectives, and celebrate the women making an impact in our field.

Here’s to continuing to build meaningful connections and championing the women who move our industry forward. We were grateful for the opportunity to share this special evening with our team and celebrate the women shaping our industry.

Celebrating five years of alysa teichman’s Wildlike - and a space that knows how to make an impression.

We loved stepping back into a project we designed and experiencing it exactly as it was meant to be: full of energy, personality, and a little bit of edge. With flash tattoos, piercings, and plenty of sparkle, the evening was a true reflection of the Wildlike spirit.

The MAOarch team fully immersed ourselves into the wildlike mentality walking away with some hardware of our own! The perfect way to end a great night in a beautiful space! 🐾🎈

We’re delighted to announce that the Carolina Herrera Houston Boutique has been recognized as a winner of the Wonder Global Design Awards 2026 in the Commercial Architecture – Retail, Shops, Department Stores, & Malls category!

Designed in collaboration with Wes Gordon, this boutique reflects a thoughtful balance of architectural precision, refined materiality, and the distinctive identity of the Carolina Herrera brand. Every detail was considered to create an elevated retail experience that is both timeless and inspiring.

It was a privilege to bring this project to life alongside such talented partners who share our passion for exceptional design.

MAOarch had the opportunity to experience Christian Siriano’s Spring/Summer show at Cipriani 25 Broadway - an inspiring chance to be immersed in the creative world. Being immersed in that creative energy is a reminder of why we love what we do.
