Rapid Fire: Interior Design Questions

The goal should be to collected not accumulate.

A bedroom designed to have presence, but never at the expense of comfort. I love the balance here between the more sophisticated silhouettes and the softer, organic elements that keep the room feeling relaxed and approachable.

The four-poster bed gives the space a sense of structure and grandeur, while the mural, natural textures, layered textiles, and antique pieces bring warmth, history, and a little imperfection. It’s that mix I’m always drawn to. Rooms that feel considered and collected, but still completely comfortable to live in.

One thing is very clear at High Point Market this season: rich, deep reds are everywhere.

Burgundy, oxblood, w**e, and all of those beautifully muddy reds are showing up across upholstery, case goods, art, and accessories. I love the warmth and depth they bring to a space, especially when they’re used almost as a neutral rather than a bright pop of color.

Definitely one of my favorite things I’m seeing at Market this year.

No better way to kick off High Point Furniture Market than an evening at the Verellen showroom. Feeling inspired at every turn and with every touch.

Marble gets a bad reputation for being “too fragile,” and I think that’s been blown a little out of proportion. Yes, it’s a softer natural stone, but we’re still talking about stone. It’s not glass. It’s not something you have to be afraid to live with.

I’ve had marble in my own kitchen and, with normal everyday use, I’ve found it to be completely reasonable. And for me, nothing really replicates the depth, movement, and beauty of real marble.

If you love it, I don’t think fear of using it should be the thing that talks you out of it.

A little red, a little green, and the real star of the room.
