Just a quick tip that worked for me against predators. My run is covered but it’s mainly chain link fence. Very strong, but kept having random predators sneak in during the day and steal chickens. Just vanished. The last time I lost 10 pullets at once. I noticed something had tried to dig in but wasn’t successful. I went to add my electric fence around the run, but my charger didn’t work anymore and no one local had one in stock that was solar. I stuck an old radio inside the coop and put it on a talk radio station and used one of my Wyze cameras to see if anything came around. I haven’t had the first predator come anywhere near the coop in 3 weeks. So if you need something temporary or just quick, buy a cheap radio that will pick up a talk radio station. The chics even go in the coop and sleep around it.

Just thought y'all might appreciate the sign we have on the gate to the velociraptor paddock (AKA back yard). 🐓

Just wanted to share my “hack” for pulling chicken wire tight! Use the post for leverage then you can put the handle against your side or leg and have two hands for securing it.

This is an update on the abandoned kitten found in my chicken coop. Cooper, Coop for short, has now fully assimilated into the flock and is an honorary chicken.

Wanted to share our Wild Wild West Chicken Town with people who will get it 🤣🤣
Have a few more garden beds to plant out and micro greens to be planted and wired. We have our first compost pile going for them to sort out (a new pile will turn over each week with their bedding) should end up with 5 Piles of compost at a time! So many different options for laying boxes and lots of space for sleeping! Water will be connected to a 200L drum (rain water too) so we don't have to worry about hose breakages if we are away. Coop completely predator proof. Now the chickens just need to adjust to their new home!

He’s the most perfect boy ever.
I do think he’s an Olive Egger Roo.

I've shared this before... friendly reminder/advice... For those of you struggling with keeping a rooster... THIS IS A GAME CHANGER! There are benefits to having a rooster. He keeps peace among the ladies and is fiercly protective! I got tired of his attacks and not being able to sit and visit with the hens.... so I took action. It is part of the daily routine now. First thing I do is cover him and toss him a few treats. I then enjoy tending to the ladies and collect eggs in peace. When I'm done I walk him under the basket to the door and release him as I step out. GAME CHANGER!
Brad continues to thrive and keep his flock happy & safe. He is now 11 yrs old and going strong!
