We were thrilled to welcome students from the International Community High School to FPE Architects this summer through the Salvadori Center.
FPE was introduced to Salvadori by Shawmut Design and Construction, whose partnership helps connect NYC-area high school students with architecture, engineering, and construction professionals to give them an inside look at careers in the industry.
During their visit, we explored and through an interactive presentation, followed by sketching and LEGO modeling workshops. We discussed how sustainable design strategies can support adaptive reuse—and the benefits these approaches can bring to building owners, occupants, and surrounding communities.
The students also had the opportunity to ask questions about pursuing architecture in NYC, from becoming an architecture student to building a career at an architecture firm. We loved seeing their curiosity and creativity throughout the day!
And, of course, no studio visit is complete without pizza from Nuovo York Pizza! 🍕
