COINCIDENCE!
I often have instances in my shop where I have been to the town/country where my visitors live and we have great conversations. Twice, I've had people who know my cousins in Pennsylvania. But, this is the the coincidenty of coincidences:
So this nice couple came into the shop today and said they were from California. I asked where and they said Palm Desert. I said that I lived in San Francisco when I was a kid and they said that they had lived there until they retired but still had an apartment building in the city. I asked where and they said it was on Haight Street. I said I lived on Haight Street in the 1950s and they asked the address.
I walked over to get my memoir because it identified all the addresses and dates of places that I lived. As I walked, I told them the story of being mad at my brother, Vic , and writing a note to tell him that and how I walked to the corner to copy the word Haight from the street sign so I could write "I Haight you," in the note. (Of course he laughed and then my whole family laughed and for a while I haighted them, too!)
When I opened the book and said that In 1955, I lived at 571 Haight, she got really excited and said that she had lived next door and that she bought 571 Haight Street in the 1990s! She still owns it and she rents out the three apartments.
Was it Freud who said that there are no coincidences? Wrong, wrong, wrong! Can you believe it?! I'm still in a bit of shock
