🌿 Sometimes a garden is more than just a garden… it’s a lifetime of memories. 🌸

This particular garden belongs to a sweet 90’s yo elderly lady whose husband planted it years ago. Over time, the garden became overgrown, and the beautiful plants he once lovingly placed were slowly hidden beneath the weeds and tangled growth.

But underneath all that overgrowth was something worth preserving. ❤️

My goal wasn’t to create a new garden, but to bring back the one she remembered after she shared photos with me. Carefully pruning the plants, cleaning up the beds, redefining lines, and giving this special space a chance to shine again.

There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping someone fall in love with their garden all over again, especially when that garden holds memories of someone they love.

At Mountaineer Maintenance, sometimes the most meaningful transformations aren’t about what we plant, but about what we save. 🌿💙

Because some gardens grow more than flowers…they grow memories.

Mountaineer Maintenance has been nominated for three categories in Best of Whidbey! It’s such a huge honor in itself to make the top five. Voters can vote daily until the 31st. Can I get your vote? Whidbey News Times/Best of Whidbey

🦇 October is Bat Appreciation Month and the last week of October is Bat Week, an international, annual celebration designed to raise awareness about the need for bat conservation. 🦇

For this series of Creepy, Crawly Clean-Up Crew, here's five facts about our favorite flying phenoms:

🦇Whidbey Island is home to the Little Brown Myotis, Yuma Myotis, Big Brown Bat, and the California Myotis. 👇🏼

Myotis is a genus of bats, with the name meaning "mouse ear" and referring to the characteristic small, mouse-like ears found in all species.

🦇Though several mammals such as flying squirrels, sugar gliders and colugos can glide impressive distances, bats are the only mammals that can truly fly.

🦇The giant golden-crowned flying fox, a fruit bat native to the Philippines, is the largest bat in the world. Adults have wingspans pushing 6 feet and can weigh up to 2.6 pounds.🤯

🦇Most bats in the U.S. are insectivores, often eating their body weight in insects nightly.

🦇More than 500 species of flowers rely on bats as primary pollinators. We have bats to thank each time we eat a banana or drink a margarita (bats are the exclusive pollinators of agave, from which tequila is sourced).

Thank you, Bats!!

I am a BCI Bat Ambassador 🦇

Feeling blessed! This whole week!

Yesterday I placed out a bouquet and as I was typing a post to say I had eggs available, a gentleman stopped by to purchase the bouquet.

Today I sold another bouquet and a few dozen eggs!

Thank you! 🙌🏼🙏❤️

I still have two dozen eggs left…bouquets are sold out 🥰

Good morning. 🍂🍃🍁

I have an idea, and there goes my husband’s weekend. Just kidding, all joking aside, with the habitat loss on the rise on Whidbey Island, I need to reinforce my cut flower garden fencing from the deer. Why is my cut flower garden in the front yard? Easy answer. Sun mapping. Cut flowers need 6 to 8 hours of sunlight.

Pick up at the flower stand. 🌸

Side note, as I was typing this post, a gentleman stopped by and picked up a bouquet I had set out this morning.
