You don’t walk past an old tree without asking permission. You don’t take a leaf without leaving something behind or saying thank you.
Every root, bark, and resin on the Botanica shelf came from something living that saw us first.

We make with that in mind.

I am thrilled to share that San Maris has been selected as one of the participants in ’s Makers Future Fund: Bay Area!

Launched in partnership with Gap Inc., the program is a customized capital access and skill-building program designed to boost financial confidence and connect maker entrepreneurs (like me/us) with the funding and mentorship they need to achieve their financial goals and grow their craft businesses.

I am excited to be a part of this program–building community with fellow makers and learning from industry experts to expand our business acumen!

I built the Discovery Trio for the same reason I started making candles at all, not everyone starts in the same place. I wanted to have an offering for those that didn't know where to start.

Caminos if you need him to walk with you first.

Caminos means roads // paths. It’s the one tied to Elegguá, the one who opens the way before anything else can begin. The third candle we launched in the line up after the Dos Aguas (two waters). We have reason to all our launches. 🕯️🖤

That’s my own Elegguá in the second photo, not a prop, the one I keep and work with. We start everything with him. In ceremony, he’s asked first, before anyone else, because nothing else can open until he does.

This is where every ritual begins.

This is what "small batch" actually looks like to me, every vessel I label by hand, before a single one ships. This is not fast but that’s kinda the point. We take our time to check for quality and sit with the candle before you receive it.
