Please send me these kind of projects 🙏
When design was about the feeling of the room when you walked in hoping it lasted generations - not re sale value 🥺

There was a time when drafting wasn’t a click, a command or a quick revision.

Rooms were filled with rows upon rows of drafting tables. Every line was drawn by hand. Every dimension calculated. Every detail required patience, precision, spatial understanding and an incredible amount of brainpower. A beautiful set of construction drawings wasn’t simply documentation—it was craftsmanship.

Today, we’re incredibly blessed to have programs like CAD that allow us to work faster, revise designs more efficiently and create detailed construction packages in a fraction of the time. I’m grateful for that technology every single day.

But I also think we lost a little something along the way.

There was an artistry to hand drafting—the weight of a line, the composition of a sheet, the understanding required to translate a three-dimensional idea onto paper with nothing but your mind, your hands and a collection of drafting tools.

Technology has made us faster. But the computer doesn’t create the design—the designer does.

The best construction drawings still require the same things they always have: knowledge, thought, creativity, precision and an understanding of how something will actually be built.

I hope we never lose appreciation for the incredible draftsmen and designers who created extraordinarily detailed buildings long before there was ever an Undo button. 🤍📐✏️

BEAUTIFUL DESIGN IS ONLY HALF THE JOB

Interior design isn’t just about choosing finishes and making a space look beautiful.

It’s about making sure it works — and can actually be built.

At K. Ashton Interiors, I combine design with technical planning to create detailed construction documents that help take a project from concept to installation.

CAD Floor Plans • Cabinetry Layouts • Elevations • Electrical & Plumbing Planning • Lighting & Ceiling Plans • Finish Specifications • 3D Visualization

Whether you’re a builder, contractor, or homeowner, you get more than a design concept—you get a clear plan your project team can work from.
