This month our First Friday Lunch at 23 Kitchens held some friendly competition on the pickleball and ping pong courts, followed by a tour of Hogum Bay Town Center!

Our team enjoyed the opportunity to explore another TAS/Urban Management CO LLC project firsthand. With Buildings 1 & 2 complete and Buildings 3 & 4 under construction, seeing a finished building and residents moving in is a great way to appreciate the design and collaboration that bring communities to life.

We’re grateful for opportunities like this to learn, connect, and continue "Improving Lives by Design."

As employees who are pretty spoiled, we jumped at the chance to spoil Ron in return for Boss’s Day—turned Boss’s Week! 🎉 We kicked things off with a fruit and yogurt parfait bar, sprinkled in a few surprises throughout the week, and wrapped things up with a favorite tradition: house-made "Grilled Cheese for the Big Cheese" (and all of our staff) on Boss’s Day. 🧀

Thanks, Ron, for making us feel appreciated all year long and for letting us return the favor!

We started our Saturday by showing some love for downtown Olympia! ❤️🌿

The TAS team joined the LoveOly Downtown Cleanup hosted by the Olympia Downtown Alliance to help keep our community clean, welcoming, and prepped for OlympiaArtsWalk this weekend! We grabbed coffee and donuts and made way to our assigned blocks to tidy them up, and had fun doing it.

We’re grateful to be part of a community that comes together to make downtown a better place for everyone.

☀️ TAS Annual BBQ!

Good food, great company, and a little friendly competition made for another memorable TAS Annual BBQ!

We loved bringing our TAS team and families together for an afternoon of delicious food from OG's Smokehouse BBQ, Inc., laughter, and a water balloon toss contest. We enjoyed catching up outside of work and bonding with our TAS families. It was the perfect way to celebrate the people who make TAS such a great place to work.

Nothing beats good food and a little end-of-summer fun!

We were honored to welcome attendees of the Washington State Department of Commerce's Economic Development Conference to West Bay Yards for a deeper understanding of how projects become reality.

Our Founding Principal, Ron Thomas, shared insights into the vision and scope of West Bay Yards, the permitting process, navigating City requirements, and the broader economic impact of redevelopment.

West Bay Yards is a real-world example of the collaboration, vision, and perseverance it takes to move a project from concept through planning, funding, and permitting—and toward lasting community impact.

We were proud to host the Kominka Collective at AIA Southwest Washington's Design Parti during their visit to the Pacific Northwest! Their moving presentation on preserving traditional Japanese architecture for future generations brought some attendees to tears.

Kominka are traditional Japanese farmhouses, typically defined as structures built at least 50 years ago. and celebrated for their craftsmanship, use of local materials, and harmony with nature. These homes are living cultural artifacts that reflect Japan’s architectural traditions and rural heritage.

We also enjoyed Japanese snacks by Nachiko Yamamoto—a member of the Olympia Kato Sister City Association (OKSCA) who is helping with the Yashiro Japanese Garden relocation project—and a thoughtful meditation by Kiyomi, owner of Zen House Kominka in Oregon.

How does Japanese architecture show up in your life? 🏡

Join us today for the ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate Parthia’s new permanent home in Olympia!

For nearly seven years, TAS has been honored to contribute to Parthia’s journey through the design of her new protective canopy and outreach efforts. It’s exciting to see this historic 1906 tugboat find her permanent home and to celebrate the next chapter of her story.
