Our favorite weather person doing his thing. Sner in mountains this weekend! Wet Halloween? Could be interesting!
Good mernin and happy Thursday, my precious little frost covered desert biologicals.
Cold enough to question your life choices this morning, then a milder afternoon. We get a dry day before the next storm starts making weekend plans for us.
Burns, Baker City, La Grande and John Day reach 48–56°, with sunshine and passing clouds. Frost in colder valleys early, then generally light winds.
The Treasure Valley reaches 54–61°, including Vale and Ontario. Frost early, followed by sun and clouds. Boise favors the warmer end, with cooler afternoons farther west. Mountain Home could get southeast gusts near 25 mph.
The Magic Valley reaches 55–60°, with morning frost and a milder afternoon under partly sunny skies.
McCall, Cascade and Stanley reach 46–52°, while Idaho City reaches 56–60°. Frost and pockets of fog early, then sunshine. Dry today, with more clouds tonight.
Medium & long range forecast: A few mountain showers become possible Friday. The better opportunity for more widespread rain arrives Saturday, with current chances around 50–80% across southwest Idaho Saturday evening and night. So, impacts are possible for the Boise State game and your Halloween shenanigans. Plan accordingly!
Yes, Halloween. Apparently Mother Nature is dressing up as a wet blanket. Keep an umbrella option handy, but I’ll keep working on the timing.
Snow initially favors higher elevations. Current guidance supports roughly 2–5 inches above about 6,500 feet over the weekend, with locally more on the highest peaks. Real inches not man inches. Those amounts depend on the storm’s track and timing.
Snow levels could lower to around 4,500–6,500 feet Sunday afternoon. The catch is that precipitation may be tapering off by then. Colder air arriving after most of the moisture leaves would limit accumulation farther down. This still looks more like rain for the lower valleys.
A drier pattern looks more likely by Monday afternoon, with some warming into midweek.
I’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned!
I bought a thesaurus, but it was terrible. Not only that, it was terrible.
LOL LOL don’t delete me. K thanks bye.
