It looked perfect on install day. Fifteen years later, the sander came out, and the curse revealed itself.

Engineered floors are only as renewable as their wear layer, the real hardwood on top. Some budget floors carry as little as 0.6mm. Every refinish removes around 1mm, so a thin face can only ever be recoated, while a 4mm face can be sanded back to new 2 to 3 times.

Our engineered floors are NWFA certified refinishable and built on an exterior grade Baltic birch core, made to be renewed for generations, not replaced.

The Halloween Series, Part 1 🕯️

The edges are rising. The gaps come and go. Something is moving under your floor.

It isn’t a ghost. It’s moisture. When the underside of a board holds more moisture than the face, the edges lift and the floor cups. When the air dries out, boards shrink and dark gaps appear, then disappear again with the seasons. Industry research shows that a moisture difference of about half a percent between the top and bottom of a board can be enough to start cupping.

We stop it before it starts. Every board is kiln dried in-house and built on an exterior grade Baltic birch core, one of the most stable platforms in flooring.

Gray had a long run. 2026 is warmer.

Here’s what we’re seeing across LA projects right now. Floors are moving to honey, caramel and amber tones in an ultra matte finish that looks almost raw. Planks are getting wider, with 7 to 10 inch boards and oversized herringbone replacing narrow strips and busy parquet. And the best rooms carry the same wood from the floor up the stairs and onto the walls.

Every one of these is made to order in our Orange, California factory, in the tone, width and finish your project calls for.
