This is the step that decides whether your floor lasts 15 years or 15 months.

We DIAMOND GRIND the slab down to raw, open concrete — edges and corners by hand, because that's where peeling starts. It should look like fine sandpaper, not shiny. That texture is the only thing the coating has to grab onto.

The cheap way is to acid wash it, or don't prep at all. That's why you see garage floors peeling up.

No shortcuts here.

BEFORE and AFTER on a garage right here in the Kansas City metro.

Stained, pitted concrete that had never been touched → a flake floor you can wipe motor oil off of with a shop towel.

Three coats: a MOISTURE V***R BARRIER primer, a 100% SOLIDS EPOXY basecoat with DECORATIVE FLAKE broadcast to rejection, and a POLYASPARTIC topcoat that won't yellow in the sun.

I'm Cole, and I started State Line Coatings right here in Overland Park.

I spent the last three years managing home service projects across the Kansas City metro. I have talked to a lot of homeowners and most have at least one horror story from working with a contractor in the past. They get sold with a set of expectations in their mind and then those expectations don’t get met and changes don’t get communicated. Nobody is perfect, nothing goes 100% to plan, but I believe clear expectations and communication solves almost all of these issues.

So I built this company around the opposite of that: diamond grind every floor, moisture test every slab, and use a three-coat system that's rated for what a Kansas garage actually goes through in February with constant communication and clear expectations from the start.

I'm on every job myself. If there is a problem, you're calling me, not a call center.
