🌱🐭 Did you know your garden can double as a natural mouse repellent?

Some plants don’t just look pretty or smell amazing to us—they send rodents running the other way! 🚫🐀

✨ Peppermint – That refreshing menthol scent we love? Mice hate it.
✨ Rosemary – A strong, woody aroma that keeps rodents at bay.
✨ Lavender – Calming for humans, but unpleasant for mice.
✨ Marigolds – Their bold scent repels not only mice, but also pesky insects.
✨ Oregano – A pungent herb that discourages unwelcome critters.
✨ Daffodils – Beautiful and toxic to rodents, so they steer clear.

Planting these around your home or garden adds beauty and built-in pest control. 💚🌿

👉 Would you try planting these instead of using traps or sprays?

Here are clear, practical planting tips for Arborvitae (including Emerald Green / ‘Smaragd’): Best Time to Plant Spring (after the last frost) or early fall are ideal.
Avoid planting in the heat of summer or when the ground is frozen.

Choosing the Right Spot: Full sun (6+ hours) is best for dense, rich green growth. They tolerate partial shade but may become thinner.
Soil: Well-draining soil is essential. Arborvitae hate “wet feet.”
Ideal pH: slightly acidic to neutral (6.0–8.0).
Space: For Emerald Green, plant 4–5 feet apart for a tight privacy hedge, or over 6 feet for individual specimens.

How to Plant Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep (or slightly shallower).
Gently loosen any circling roots.
Place the plant so the top of the root ball is level with or slightly above the surrounding soil.
Backfill with the native soil (you can mix in a little compost if your soil is poor).
Water thoroughly to settle the soil.
Apply a 2–3 inch layer of mulch around the base, keeping it a few inches away from the trunk.

Watering After Planting Keep the soil consistently moist (not soggy) for the first growing season. Do not over water!
Water deeply Allow roots to dry then water deeply again. The climate, weather and soil type are factors as well.
Once established, they are fairly drought-tolerant.

Extra Tips for Success
Stake young plants only if they’re in a very windy location.
Protect from heavy snow/ice by gently brushing off branches if needed.
Fertilize lightly in early spring with a balanced slow-release fertilizer if growth seems slow.
Watch for bagworms or spider mites in hot, dry weather.

Follow these steps and your Emerald Green Arborvitae seedlings should establish well and grow into a beautiful, low-maintenance evergreen screen.
