Hey everyone!!
I thought I’d share….
This was my grandmother’s hope chest that I have inherited that is over 100 yrs old. I just picked it up today and my mother always wanted me to have it. It’s been in my mother’s bedroom for probably over 40 yrs. It’s very sentimental and my Nana was such a wonderful woman.
The top has a crack and chipped wood. I do plan to repair it and paint it. I can justify it because it’s far from perfect. The inside has a mothball smell but I plan to fix that. I hope to have this at the foot of my bed as a memory from 2 of my favorite women and a symbol of them always with me. This will be my 30th hope chest that I’ve done.
I do also have my own, and that remains unpainted. I keep my wedding dress, veil, shoes and purse and special knitted afghans in mine.
I know hope chests are a bit old fashioned, but I adore them. 💕
