A common repair job is shutters that are loose or have fallen off house.
These were replacement shutters to update the look.
There are two main mounting types-
If over siding or a non-masonry wall, screws are the common method with small plastic caps to conceal screw head.
Over brick or other masonry surfaces, these plastic push pins are used. A single hole is drilled and the pins are a one-way push in. Removal can mean breaking pin. If a shutter has fallen or blown off- it’s many times the plastic pins that have become brittle and snapped off.
Replacement then requires drilling out broken piece, checking depth of hole and then installing new pin.

These are all relating to decorative shutters. Real, functional shutters are traditionally mounted with what are called parliament hinges, which allow actual closing and are also designed to allow shutter to be lifted off its hinge pins. I can’t say I’ve ever seen ones that are actually ever closed or in working order- they’re usually buried in paint, drooping under their own weight and with rusted hardware.

This is a customer’s refrigerator cabinet that was a little narrow for the refrigerator they were buying. The other side was the wall/drywall. This side had a trim piece that took up the extra inch they needed.
Cutting it in place wasn’t a simple option, so I made a new strip and carefully replaced it.

I was at a customer’s house awhile back and went to use their backyard hose. It came out with unbelievable pressure.
I have this simple screw on gauge in my truck for checking water pressure- just screw on anywhere that has a hose sized fitting. It showed 120 lbs of pressure! That makes for a great shower but it’s also a water bomb waiting to go off!
These simple gauges can be gotten at Home Depot or other places as well. If you have this kind of pressure, talk to a plumber. Your pressure regulator where main water line comes in from outside is either bad or maybe you don’t even have one, as was the case here.
The normal pressure should be around 50-70 lbs. Having high pressure is hard on water heater, pipes and also things like washing machine hoses and could cause major flood!

I have a few round brushes that fit into a drill- they can be gotten from many sources. They are great for lots of things like carpet spots, bathroom tile etc since they effortlessly scrub far more than your hand can. This vid is cleaning cat debris from carpet using just water- obviously you can use a carpet shampoo for stains as well.

This was a shelf project in a customer’s home. They specified dimensions and placement. Prior to constructing shelves, I made metal supports that mounted to wall framing, along with wood blocking to secure shelving. All mounting and supports are concealed within the hollow shelves to create the floating appearance.

Customer’s shower had some leaking, grout decaying, and in dire need of caulking. Once cleaned, grout lines scraped refilled and caulk redone, it cured leak problem and refreshed the appearance.
