I always grow microgreens in my indoor garden with my baby greens, so I have veggies to harvest while waiting for my baby greens to get to salad size.

Sweet potatoes love the heat. They do well in grow bags when the soil is protected from excessive heat. The shade cloth helps produce tender, delicious leaves.

I grow edible flowers indoors during the hot Arizona summer as well as a few in the inthe winter.

As soon as it cools down in the fall, I move most of them into the garden beds.

It's a great way to get a head start on the growing season and have easy access to edible flowers in the kitchen.

🌿 Here’s to baskets full of fresh greens all season long! 🥬✨
One of the joys of gardening is walking outside and discovering something fresh waiting to be harvested. Succession planting can help make those moments happen again and again.

Rather than one big planting, and one big harvest, stagger your sowing dates to keep lettuce, kale, spinach, collards, and other cool weather favorites growing.

The Calendula’s Garden Succession Planting Calculator helps you figure out what to plant, when to plant it, and how much to sow.

🍂 More fresh harvests. Less guesswork. More time to enjoy your garden.

Think the growing season is over? Not so fast! The cooler months are one of the best-kept secrets in gardening.

While everyone else is packing up their trowels, you can keep your garden humming along with veggies that actually love a little chill.

Cold weather sweetens their flavor, slows down pests, and gives you fresh, homegrown food long after summer fades.

Whether you have a big backyard bed or a couple of pots on a balcony, there’s still time to plant.

Filling the bottom third of your new grow bags with yard debris saves money and makes healthy soil.
From the bottom up:
cardboard
brown items - logs and dried material
green - a chop and drop favorite: Mexican sunflower
soil
Water in, cover with straw mulch, and let the container rest for a week. The green layer can make your garden soil hot like a compost heap. If you need to plant sooner, leave out the green layer.

Purple radish microgreens grew pretty fast in soil and in the deep hydroponic reservoir. The hydroponic grow mat was on the struggle bus. Tasty little tidbits perfect for salads.
