Skylights can add beautiful natural light to a space, but here in Arizona, they can also bring a lot of unwanted heat and glare.
We recently completed a skylight shade installation for a customer looking for a better way to control the sunlight coming through their overhead windows.
The right window treatment can help make skylights much more functional by providing:
• Better light control
• Reduced glare
• Added protection from intense direct sunlight
• A more comfortable interior environment
Window treatments are not always limited to the windows on the walls. Skylights, specialty-shaped windows, oversized openings and other unique applications can often be treated too.
Another fun project for the Boyd's Blinds team and a great example of finding the right solution for a unique space.

Earlier this month, we celebrated a very special milestone. Our founder, Boyd Miller, turned 70!

Boyd started Boyd’s Blinds nearly 47 years ago with a commitment to quality work, honest service, and treating every customer like family. Those values are still at the heart of our business today.

We are incredibly proud to carry forward what he built. Happy 70th birthday to the man behind the name and the foundation of everything we do!

Another Flatz project complete!

Boyd’s Blinds recently had the opportunity to install roller shades for the clubhouse and office windows at 7 in Casa Grande.

The darker shade selection complemented the look of the clubhouse beautifully, while adding privacy, light control, and a clean finished feel to the space.

After completing work at 3, it was great to continue working with the and Z Modular team on another project here in Arizona.

Thank you to Robert M. Goldman, Brenda Brady, and the Z Modular team for the continued opportunity. We appreciate being trusted to be part of another Flatz project!

We had a great conversation this week with an architect friend, and it gave us so much to think about as we continue growing the commercial side of Boyd’s Blinds.

One thing we talked about was how important window treatments really are in development and design. They are not just something added at the end. They help shape the aesthetic of a space, impact how a room feels, and in Arizona especially, they can make a huge difference in how usable a space is throughout the day.

Between the heat, sunlight, and glare we deal with here, the right shades can affect comfort, functionality, and the overall experience of a room.

We also talked about how window treatments can be a significant cost item, which is why planning ahead, understanding the design intent, and choosing the right product matters.

We always appreciate conversations that help us better understand the architect, designer, and GC side of the business. There is so much value in learning directly from the people who are shaping these spaces from the beginning.

A little late, but we still wanted to wish a very Happy Father’s Day to the man behind Boyd’s Blinds, Boyd Miller.

Boyd started Boyd’s Blinds in Pittsburgh in 1979, building the business on hard work, strong relationships, and taking care of customers the right way. Decades later, those same values are still at the heart of what we do today.

As we continue to grow Boyd’s Blinds in Arizona, we are grateful for the foundation he built and the example he continues to set for our family and our business.

We hope everyone had a great weekend celebrating the dads, grandfathers, mentors, and father figures in their lives.

Happy Father’s Day, Boyd!

Project Spotlight

We recently had the opportunity to install custom zebra shades throughout this beautiful home for Wendy Cracciolo of Get Your Move On.

For this project, we selected cordless, room-darkening zebra shades for the large sliding glass doors, creating a clean, modern look while providing flexible light control and privacy.

One of the reasons we love zebra shades is their versatility. The alternating sheer and solid fabric bands allow homeowners to easily adjust between filtered natural light and increased privacy, all while maintaining a sleek, contemporary aesthetic.

Thank you, , for trusting Boyd's Blinds with your home. It was a pleasure working with you.
