Connecting commerce, culture, and community in Montezuma Creek, Utah. 🌿

Merge Architectural Group has completed the masterplanning portion of the Market & Economic Feasibility Study and Geo-Design Land Use Plan for the Navajo Utah Commission—a milestone in a grant-funded initiative to support revitalization and economic opportunity.

Working with Southwest Business Development, led by Michael Peacock, and Ardurra, we explored a vision that brings together:

• Essential services for the community
• Amenities for travelers at the new intersection
• Spaces for local farmers and artists to showcase and sell their products and creations

The proposed plan looks toward a welcoming destination that serves everyday needs, supports local businesses, and creates opportunities for future investment.

Thank you to the Navajo Utah Commission and our project partners for the opportunity to help shape this vision for Montezuma Creek.

A new chapter for North Valley Church.

Merge Architectural Group is excited to share our design concept for North Valley Church’s existing campus in north Phoenix, next to I-17—a welcoming place for worship, fellowship, and community connection.

The triangle serves as the foundation of the design, shaping a rhythmic façade of folded surfaces. Together with generous roof overhangs, these forms create a protective envelope that shades the building and responds to the desert’s intense sun.

The concept explores cross-laminated timber (CLT) components, bringing the warmth, texture, and natural character of wood into the experience of the church. From arrival to gathering and worship, the material invites a softer, more personal connection with the spaces people inhabit.

A prominent cross marks the campus, while desert planting, shaded seating, and an open gathering plaza extend the church’s welcome outdoors—creating places to pause, connect, and spend time together.

We look forward to developing this vision with North Valley Church and its community.

Honoring a remarkable legacy. Creating opportunities for future generations.

Merge Architectural Group is proud to share the proposed Navajo Code Talkers Memorial Museum masterplan at the St. Benito site, featured in the August 14 edition of Navajo Times in celebration of Navajo Code Talkers Day.

Rooted in Diné values, culture, and the desert landscape, the plan supports the Navajo Code Talkers Association’s vision for a place of remembrance, learning, and opportunity.

Monumental earth-built vessels, sacred gardens, native landscapes, and hilltop overlooks create a journey through the Code Talkers’ story—connecting culture, land, and sky.

Through memorial spaces, education, research, hospitality, and economic development, the vision honors the Code Talkers’ legacy while supporting future generations.

Preview update. We’re excited to see Quiriego Scottsdale getting ready to open its doors!

Featuring more than 6,000 SF of immersive and experiential spaces, the project brings together architecture, atmosphere, hospitality, and experience to create a distinctive destination in Scottsdale with some of the most unique flavors from the Sonoran region.

It’s rewarding to see the vision move from concept and drawings to a fully realized space, now in its final preparations to welcome guests.

Congratulations to the entire Quiriego team and everyone who helped bring this project to life. We’re proud to be part of the journey and excited to see it in action soon!

We are proud to announce that our Co-Founder and Principal, Carlos A. Murrieta, AIA, has been appointed by Governor Katie Hobbs to serve the public as a member of the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration (BTR).

This appointment reflects Carlos’ longstanding commitment to architecture, professional excellence, and public service. The BTR plays a vital role in protecting the public by overseeing the licensure and professional standards of architects, engineers, surveyors, landscape architects, geologists, and other technical professionals throughout Arizona. Carlos served in the past as president of the National Organization of Minority Architects Arizona and as President of the American Institute of Architects Phoenix Metro Chapter.

Congratulations, Carlos, on this well-deserved recognition. We are honored to see your leadership and dedication continue to serve the people of Arizona and the professions that shape our communities.

The new Academic stair tower at NTU showcases transformation through knowledge, with its vibrant red exterior and interior facilitating wayfinding and offering scenic views of the university.

Celebrating the new NTU Academic Building at Crownpoint University Campus, a cutting-edge nearly 30,000 SF facility that brings together academic classrooms and faculty spaces. The design, rooted in the concept of the female hogan’s nine columns, emphasizes the importance of storytelling in transmitting knowledge. The building welcomes the east sunrise and allows the sun to intersect the building completely onto the opposite side and entry to the new building.
