Painted this guy over a year ago and still can’t get over how fun he is- and how much I want -a moment to feel like him. We’ve got a few paint-by-number kits of him if you’d like to start your shopping early for the holidays :)

We’ve been working extremely hard to set the shop up for autumn and really refresh so much of the shop to make it as fresh as possible as we get nearer to our 6 year anniversary. I’m gonna do another post tomorrow as we finish up 7 weeks of refreshing inside, before we move outside next week 🫣

Ok so first of all, here’s a little sample of a project we’ve got coming up as we near our 6th anniversary open… which leads me to announcing that our shop manager Kendall celebrated a birthday today! We’ve known Kendall over a decade now, and even had a very lovely nearly two year journey as roommates- she’s got an incredible energy, optimism, outlook and is the only person I’ve ever lived with that I never once had an argument with.

Anyway, work has been incredibly enjoyable and Pueblo has never looked so good or had so much good stuff on the horizon. Stop by in the next week or so to say goodbye to our tattered Aluminet patio cover before we radically update our garden.

We won BEST PLANT SHOP IN PHOENIX from Phoenix New Times this year! We’ve been open since 2015 and in 11 years this year means the most. It’s been a hard freaking slog this last year, this last month especially. Coby and I and the rest of the team work really hard to bring this space together and keep it up. So much goes on in the background, so much goes into trying to keep this place open that a little win is OUTSIZED this year.

This month we’ve had our largest indoor order ever, today we got our largest outdoor order ever. We’re so well stocked, so deep clean and so eager to just really slow down again for a few days now that we’re back on track. I’m not trying to boast, but I’ve been pretty coy about winning in the past but we really did the freaking work for this one.

Anyway, we have orchids, umbellatas, euphorbia, Brachychiton, and more variety than we’ve had in years. Come talk to our wonderful team and take a moment to bask in our garden as it is before we refresh it quite a bit more for our 6th anniversary coming up at this location.

Also happy 34th Coby! So proud of you for all the work you do in the background to keep this place operating, open and alive.

Here’s Coby, 3 days before his birthday just cross-legged on the floor tagging a hundred or so native seeds to help add a touch of habitat and greenery to the city. We’ve had two (or three) massive boxes of native seeds - Brittle Bush, Arizona poppies, Mexican-Hat, Desert Marigolds and more - that are perfect for spreading at the end of monsoon season to add some food and such for pollinators.

Since the store first opened in 2015 I’ve been running this social media. We’ve had help for sure and there’s been people tasked with keeping it up, but for the better part of 12 years it’s just become a bit monotonous to consistently show off things we have to stay afloat- but then there’s sweet moments like this, that aren’t super special or exciting. Where we’re just working to put little clips on things to display them easily on a pegboard for $3.50
